RPG blast radius changed?

Post by ralfidude »

Im not sure if this has changed or not but has the blast radius of the RPG been changed? There have been numerous instances where i fired n rpg at a guy 1 foot away from the wall, and he didnt even flinch, just fired back at me in my head. I have also been shot at by an RPG where it hit directly next to me and i didnt even start bleeding out.

Well, I dont know about the RPG's, but the blast radios of all grenades were reduced. Maybe the same to the RPG's
[R-DEV]OkitaMakoto:"Cheers, you're the man, Okita"
[R-DEV]Rhino:"I in fact got kicked from a server for tking."
Hitperson:"well done, treasure it forever."
[R-DEV]Adriaan:"Damned classy Roma, if I may say so."
[R-DEV]Chuc:"Pro man, pro."
(yes, it was about me)
[R-MOD]BloodBane611:"Romagnolo, you definitely deserve a LOL award for that."

RPGs and grenades are unrealistically underpowered right now. Most people would rather use a molotov cocktail over a grenade.

How exactly are RPGs underpowered?

Well, the RPG use shaped charges if I remember correctly, so they shouldn't really hurt you if they hit next to you...

RPGs, they're a pain to the Brits, but lovely to use in your hands. I often take these over a British kit when my squad doesn't need anything special. I think they're fine as is. Fast to fire, zips into the target, blows up and everything's dead.

Nades are a different story. Had a nade right under a Chinese engy AFK, he didn't even die.

cyrax i completely disagree, as far as im concerned in recent days i was shooting off rpgs and they do fine against armor, but infantry is immune to them now. I swear to god the dude was up against the wall, shot the rpg, DIRECTLY above his head hitting the wall, and nada. the dude was standing up shooting back at me. He missed a few times due to the supressive fire effects from the rpg, but he didnt die. I mean this happened like a billion times, just today. And before that i jsut thought i was being a bad shot, which is hard with an rpg.... but in liu of recent events, i beg to differ. Iv been hitting just right, but these guys have dragon skin armor perhaps, lol.

Thanks for mentioned it...because is complete true, im not sure if im the only one but on al basrah using the challenger is easier get killed by a Molotov cocktail rather than with RPG shoots, what is that?

i think the devs left it that way to make it kinda fair for the insurgents. Also if u let anybody get that close to ur tank, u probably have a faulty convoy. I always make sure to check my 3 and 9, and having my engineer 50 cal gunner at my 6, while the gunner does his job at 12. Plus APC support next to us, hehe. But in all seriousness its not the most realistic thing, but without it, the challenger is kinda cheap VS rpgs (takes 5 to kill it). So yeah... motolovs all the way!

Oh and who said that RPGs are not that explosive? I mean look at this video, if that hits anywhere near u, ur damn eardrums are gonna be gone dude, and thats AT LEAST.

I'll agree that this was all done for ballance reasons. But I don't know a single person in real life who would not be on the ground bleeding after an RPG hit not 2 inches from his prone head. This has happened to me time and time agian. The only way that RPGs, and even the AT4s deal damage now is if you hit them dead on. But thats not what they are used for in real life. In real life AT4s, and RPGs are used not just for tank busting but for clearing out an entrenched enemy inside a bunker. IE if a rocket hits the back of the bunker in Mestia often times in game the 4 guys who where in there walk out a bit dased but bandage them selfs up and are good to fight agian.

In real life they would blead out or be dead from the shock force of the round hitting behind them. Rockets, and tank shells have tremendus force in close spaces. IE I wonder if the BF2 engine can simulate this some how? Also an RPG shot from with in a bunker would kill everybody inside the bunker as well as hit it's target.

No rocket can be fired inside a closed space in real life. There is only one rocket that can do it, and it's payload is only the size of a small mid size rock. Even so the fact is they all have back blast too them, and I was in a few games where the back blast did not kill me like it should have in PR.5. I know it meant that you had to be aware of where the AT guy was, but thats the way it is. You never see anybody standing withing two feet of a man about to shoot an RPG, or even a AT4.

If players get TKs from noobies thats their problem. The noobies should learn not to stand next to tnak shells or rockets as they go off.

You cant fire rpg from within pr bunkers. I think it kills you if fired prone but otherwise the backblast is not lethal but at least its drawn now

Ive not noticed any dramatic change, Ive used it to kill infantry recently without too much trouble. It can miss quite easily too but compared to using a rifle with deviation its pretty lax still so theres no excuse for complaint imo

You posted this to support your theory but do you realize what happened? An RPG hit inside a room slightly above someones head within 2ft. No one died, thanks for closing your own argument.

grizzly, that rpg didnt behave like a regular rpg. It apparently didnt explode, or it exploded outside, where the shrapnel went inside the house. BUT THE FUKING SHRAPNEL WOULD HAVE KILLED HIM! THats my goddamn point. All other videos of the rpgs hitting walls and what have you have such a blast radius that u standing up from it is IMPOSSIBLE, and if u do, then u were damn lucky.

Did you listen to the video or even watch it for that matter, it exploded about 2 feet over his head.(note the hole) Plus the tent it exploded over was occupied as the one the camera man was using.

Edit:From the source: "Myself and my mate Pez were having an afternoon nap when we got attacked. The Taliban fired all sorts of shit at us including RPGs and they even fired one SPG9 round, which is an anti tank rocket. It hit the outside of our room and punched through the wall just missing both of us.....the movie will show you how close it came!"

Anti-Tank round, explains why the hole was small and pushed inwards.

Everyone in that video was uninjured, even the man holding the launcher.

AT rounds don't have any fragmentation or blast, all you'd get if one went off near you is a head ache and little shrapnel wounds. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1BNg9W1WogM
This vid is a good demonstration of a RPG-7 AT.

Surely, it depends what round the RPG is firing? If it has a AT round its not going to have much 'splash' damage as they are desgined to punch through armour, not create a big explosion at point of impact. So, it depends on what type of RPGs are meant to be present in PR.

Its the equivalent of showing vids of a hollow point bullet and going ZOMG teh bu1137z in PR should wtf blow peoples heads up, whay don't they?
