BF2142 Titan code and PR?
I'm just curious about the code DICE used to allow the Titans to move without killing its passengers in Battlefield 2142. Would this code be compatible with the Battlefield 2 engine, and could it be used to give PR Commanders the ability to move ships?

i think they just move slowly. But tthe players still really cant stand on the thus the lag inside when they move.

The problem with moving a ship, I believe, is that the APCs and boats in the lower deck won't go with it no matter how slow it goes, which would lead to some very... interesting pile ups in the lower deck.

Re: BF2142 Titan code and PR?
When I created this thread, I made it on two assumptions:
1) It would not be applied to specific ships (i.e. the Essex, the only ship in-game), but any large, moving water vehicle.
2) It would be theoretical in nature, disregarding legal barriers.
All I wanted to know was whether the code is technically compatible with the BF2 engine, not whether it is possible to implement for PR's use.

umm iirc the titan is a whole new level and you just spawn when you leave a set area. and also the code that 2142 used is not in bf2 so you would need the whole .exe and then that would be moving to a new engine and would require all models to be moved and any dice models to be remade.

erm, what?zangoo wrote:umm iirc the titan is a whole new level and you just spawn when you leave a set area. and also the code that 2142 used is not in bf2 so you would need the whole .exe and then that would be moving to a new engine and would require all models to be moved and any dice models to be remade.
But really, the titan is completely different than any of the ships in the water. It would probably need a lot of modifications to get it to work properly, if at all.

What Zangoo was trying to say is that when you enter the titan, it "teleport" you in an area that is outside the map that is modelled like the inside of the titan, so when you enter it you are not in the moving model, you are in another model that don't move.
However, that's just for the "inside", the dock bay is still on the model.

if you want to move the carrier have to make an entire new one since current bf2 carrier is in static pieces. However would kinda be buggy and make no sense at all.

Actually, I'm not sure about that, why do drop pods fall through the Titan?Raniak wrote:What Zangoo was trying to say is that when you enter the titan, it "teleport" you in an area that is outside the map that is modelled like the inside of the titan, so when you enter it you are not in the moving model, you are in another model that don't move.

If that's true, why do bodies slide through the Titan's bulkheads?
