I just want to confirm that that is the correct file and latest version.

2: Are the players here active? Do people regularly post on the boards and play the game? I don't want to play in a server with 5 people or have no response to this question... I understand that the servers won't have 800 players but there should be enough to have a fair amount on each team,
right?

3: Is the ranking the same as bf2 un-modded? And are there awards? Pls explain.
1. You need both the Core and the Levels files in order to play PR.

2. There's always a good amount of people playing, right now there are 465 players on the servers.

3. Some servers use ABR (Alternative Battlefield Ranking) which works like the normal BF2 Ranking, but without unlocks.

And welcome :)

Yes, Core and Levels.
You can get both files from one of the sites listed here:
Project Reality : Battlefield 2 Mod - Mod File Links

TeamSpeak is used by some servers (and the clans owning/playing on them), but it's not mandatory.
Using ingame VoIP is more important.

BF2 has a build-in communication tool (Voice over IP), you press 'B' (default) to talk to your squadmates (kinda like Teamspeak).

And V for the commander channel if you are squadleader. Also, the score is something that shouldnt matter a lot in PR - though it is still there, it is often better not to shoot at a target if that gives away your position, even if you'd get a few points for it. Make sure to join a squad, without you'll probably get auto-kicked, and even if not, it is a very important aspect of the game. Make sure to completly read the maunal for all informations. Before using heavier vehicles/aircraft, test those on an empty server or LAN server, or download the singleplayer-minimod (has its own forum section) or use community-created training tools/maps/minimods, also found here on the site.

Delfer wrote:Err excuse my "noobness" but what is this in-game Voip?
I can understand you ask this question, if you have only tried -vanilla- Battlefield 2  .

If you want to play Project Reality, it's best to get yourself a microphone, as almost everyone uses voip for communications; point out location of enemies, talk tactics, give orders, explain things, scream blood, fire and murder, followed by a series of death screams, followed by shouts of excitement, joy and glory :D .

So yes, voip is pretty much mandatory :) . Tip, join squads named "voip", "teamwork", "tactics", "awesome!" (usually frosty mcownage squadleading, the great man he is :p ), etc.

Edit: age restriction? What's that? No, there's is none :) . If you can act and behave mature, give and/or follow orders and work -together-, the people will love you for it ;) .

You are not alone out there, you have like 31 men on your side, all fighting the same enemy. Don't go Rambo-ing, as it will get you killed and I can tell you, get used to seeing the black screen of death a LOT of times, hehe (especially in the beginning, but you'll get used to it and after a while, you don't even notice :p ).

Nope, no real age restriction except for getting the game, which you have!

i wouldn't get your hopes up too high especially when you're thinking about "role-playing". sure, there is far (far far...) more teamwork then in bf2, but it is all very situational. you might play one evening and have a great team experience where everyone works toghether nicely and the squads function well. then on the other hand you'll also play rounds where you haven't got a commander, everybody's running around somewhere (or in case of kashan, sitting around in the mainbase waiting for the round to end) and stuff like that. so don't quit playing after one bad round ;) have fun!

Talking about roleplaying, there is a thread with people trying to do some kind of roleplaying-event in the "community modding" section of the forum, maybe you're interested in that. Though you should get used to the game first i guess.

it sounds like you will enjoy this mod alot. just remember, as pointed out earlier, you wil have great games, and then you will have games that will make you want to kill the DEVs (no offense guys). the key to fun in PR is to STAY WITH IT. there are a lot of other people who feel your pain when playing a bad game. its like life, you get good days and bad days. one bad day doesnt mean suicides the answer. so stick it out and always find a way to have fun.
