Irony of not cursing in servers

Post by ralfidude »

Doesnt anybody feel like some servers are being slightly sarcastic or unreal when they dont allow cursing?

I mean off course it slips out and such and sometimes its the best way to let out our frustrations.

I understand that too much cursing will be annoying and that i can understand, but from time to time it should be allowed.

We are all adults, and if there are kids playing then theres this to think about. What is more damaging to a kid, a few curse words that are already common in most 8 year olds, or the fact that we are killing people in the game?

I really dont understand some people sometimes....

They payed for the server, they make the rules.

Yeah i have the same feeling. I curse all the time(at no one in particular) when i lead my squads and it annoys me when someone asks me to stop it after we just finished slaughtering 15 Chinese infantrymen

EDIT: I guess its a New York thing ;)

Cursing is fine on VoIP, within reason. Typed cursing is unnecessary, and it has to be disallowed to keep those dumb kids from typing 'bad words' they just learned from TV in Project Reality.

I allways swear on my games, and real life. I never really listened to any sorty of "no swearing" rules because they're just unnecessary. Even the youngest kid on this type of game would allready know most, if not all, swear words. And would be using them frequently in real life. I might contain myself around little kids, like 4-7. But any older and they allready know the words, and have the capacity to know how and when to use them. So with that in mind, there's just no reason to hold back when on a game.

True, unless a guy has teamkilled you repeatidly and you try to get the ADD admins attention and the only way to do it is to cuss the TKer out until the admin says HAY! then you tell him.

Well they can't do jack if you swear over voip, which I usually do alot, unless you are in a squad with a admin or a snitch :D

Swear! let them know what is going on.

Oh and it is reality to curse, ever seen a moms boy in war?
(if yes, how long did he actually last?)

I was pointing out exactly the same thing couple months ago :)

BTW, there's a PEGI mark on the game box and it says "16+" so all the "kids" shouldn't play this game at all. :D

I have no problems with cursing...

Comes down to server preference. If the server wants people to watch their language, do it because frankly it's the least you can do to show some respect for the people who pay a small fortune to run a server.

Anyone over 16+ should be able to express anger and frustration without resorting to expletives.

"Did they say what he's angry about?" asked Annette Mitchell, 77, of the district, stranded after seeing a double feature of "Piranha 3D" and "The Last Exorcism." - Washington Post

Estoy afortunada que yo pueda comprender español. (Tengo solamente tres años de español - la idioma está menos divertido que Chino Mandarín.)

Moving on to English, cursing is natural, but why type it when you can curse at the screen instead? This is why typed cursing is not allowed on servers - there is no obligation to type obscene language, and nobody will know about it until you willingly transmit it for all to see.

the crappyist filter is having "noob" as a bad word, I mean I watch shitey getting kicked for saying ranky is a noob or something just for fun, I mean is noob really that much of a offensive word that people have to block it off? and then they dont even block of "n00b"...

I mean the auto admin on the bad word filter is kinda crappy, if some one is causing a problem a real admin should be on the server to sort it. If some one really wants to be offensive to some one they will do it over VOIP....

95% of players don't use the word 'noob' in a non-insulting way.

5% play PR :P Sorry :p
But i actually use the word noob as not really offensive. It always depends on who you say it to. It shouldnt be filtered. Thats like "gay". Sure, it can be used offensive, but it doesnt have to. Those who want to be offensive will always find a way. And actually, i dont care if anyone uses a "normal" bad word against me, that just means he's either kidding or not worth any attention. If you want to offend me, say something really personal against me, not just some meaningless word. "Liar" can be much worse than "a**hole" or something.

I'm not a fan of word filters at all, and, like already said, especialy not in a game with people killing eachother.

I agree with this. How anyone can be offended by swear words is beyond me. They're just random words that over the course of time have been given bad meanings. I'm sure in a 100 years some stupid *** word we use every day will be the equivilent to fuck. It's like when me n my mom get in a discussion about how blacks handle the word "nigger" (don't hate me for using it, just trying to make a point).

They get all offended and stuff, but why? The word has no meaning for them, it had meaning 200 years ago but not anymore. It's also like how blacks call whites "peckerwoods" or "crackers". Those aren't offensive to me because they have no meaning TO ME. A random word with no meaning to me wont offend me, and EVERYONE should think this way, it would solve countless problems.

I dunno what's with people who glorify the military and probably want to be in it, and then they don't want swearing in a realism game. If you were in some army unit stationed in iraq people would be swearing their faces off all the time...
