Either by wrench or "quick pick-up" 'g'....
I think it would be beneficial, useful and realistic.
I think the SKS is fine....but if it were to be traded....nothing but a pistol IMHO.
Binos.......ability to pick up found munitions.....thats it.

Re: Ambusher class improvement...
I can imagine a second type of IED that is automatically detonated like the vanilla claymore. Some kind of proximity fuse. Kind of fire-and-forget like the current SF's SLAM. And when a car or armor moves by close enough it goes off. The ambusher also should be able to mark it as "mined" on the map, like the engineer class can, in order to avoid TK's.
I guess insurgents use that type of IED in the real world as well.
What do you think ?
And yes to the binocs for the ambusher.

Re: Ambusher class improvement...
I agree with giving teh ambusher an assualt rifle, simply because I don't see a reason why he would carry an SKS. Its not like AK47 + IED = utter pwnage, he hasn't got grenades, smoke or field dressings so its ok imo.
Bridge building is another thread. afaik bridge building should be kept in because IRL modern armies are capable of building their own from prefab components, The British army has been doing it decades, i would be very suprised if the Americans havent got equivalent equipment there.
I can take or leave the binocs, my civilian will tell me where they are (as long as he isn't headshotted my some british sniper n00b)
Modifications to the IED would be welcome, such as a longer deploy time, changing the size of the model, being able to move IEDs would also be welcome, but since you can just reload at a cache and get news ones I could leave it.

I want an FN FAL for the ambusher class that would be cool and its single shot. Give him:
Ambusher:
1 Knife
2 IEDs
1 FN FAL 1+5 mags
1 Field Dressing

I just think giving a class a different rifle completely results in a move more towards vBF2 than PR. What are the majority of insurgents armed with? Give them what they are armed in IRL.
I seriously doubt that at insurgent school some guy went
"ok chaps, you can either choose the IED or the AK47"
"why not both?"
"don't be stupid achmed!"

Re: Ambusher class improvement...
Lets not deviate too much...
I think the current load-out is sufficient and should remain with only these minor changes:
Knife
SKS
IEDs
add Binos
add civilian equivalent wrench.
add the mine slot....which remains empty unless a mine is picked-up....
*The wrench would be used for picking up mines or C4 that is left by the enemy.
Picking up C4 would just basically re-supply the IED slot.
The mine slot would be set to zero unless a mine is picked up.....then it would be ready to deploy.
Make sense?
Just my .02

Binos would be really appreciated...
I would also like to see bigger IED's dropable by a technical and activated by movement.
Insurgents have IED's with pressure pads that activate them so i think this is realistic enough and would improve the insurgents ambushes alot. Those IED's would be more easily seen but also more powerful.

I don't know about anyone else, but I HATE symmetry.'[uBp wrote:Irish;722798']i alwyas thought it was weird that when it comes to PR you hear people talk about symettry alot, but when its Insurgent vs. Regular there is such a symettrical balance that its almost overwhelming.
Balance is good though.

Re: Ambusher class improvement...
FN FAL is not single-shot; it's a selective fire battle rifle like the G3, and the difference between it and the G3 in game would be pretty much cosmetic. Only the L1A1 SLR variant of the FN FAL was single-shot only.Feuerwaffen wrote:I want an FN FAL for the ambusher class that would be cool and its single shot. Give him:

Not only this, but the (newly remodeled) AK-74U both prevents the Ambusher from trying to win a long-range fight with a scoped Brit and gives him a snowball's chance in Hell of winning a close-quarters fight.Dr2B Rudd wrote:I just think giving a class a different rifle completely results in a move more towards vBF2 than PR. The ambusher shouldnt be engaged in a long-range or CQ fight if he is playing his role correctly.gclark03 wrote:Not only this, but the (newly remodeled) AK-74U both prevents the Ambusher from trying to win a long-range fight with a scoped Brit and gives him a snowball's chance in Hell of winning a close-quarters fight.
That is why the kit is currently geared the way it is.
The ambusher should be setting IED's....and then getting to cover.
This is why the binos are useful.
The ambusher could watch for potential targets farther away.
