mod worth reinstall?
I have not played BF2 in years. I stopped playing around the time 2142 came out and moved to Company of Heroes. I have been playing a mod and that game for a while now when I heard about this mod. My concerns are these, is the community sizable? Are there at least 100 people, or more? How big is the learning curve (I can deal with any, I've played WW2 Online)? How much does it differ from vbf2? Are there any clans that are willing to help new players (I have a microphone)? Thanks in advance for your answers

Re: mod worth reinstall?
IMHO yes to all
you will have to play some maps until you get into the game totally, but with a good VOIP squad you won't have too much trouble. You could first read parts of the Wiki in order to get the gist. I woud recommend the kit / kit requesting part.
It is totally worth reinstalling BF2. I dint lauch vBF2 since last time I formated my PC, installed it an PR right after it
Community: you will always find at least 1-2 servers with 64 ppl on them and severeal with about 40.

Re: mod worth reinstall?
There are well over 100 players, and on average a (62/64) populated server or two, with serveral half-full servers.
Most players (especially ones that play in "teamwork" or "voip" squads are friendly enough to give some tips, but often won't teach you everything you want/need to know.
The learning curve isn't super steep but does take some time to adjust to, for some.

10th, Thors, TG, Tactics & Teamwork, Tcombat, and IGI are one of the common ones.

Plenty of players, great mod. Epic, even.

Re: mod worth reinstall?
this mod is amazing..its WAY diffrent from the gamplay of bf2.
pr is mostly focused on teamwork(and having a mic helps ALOT!!!)
and there usually ALWAYS at least 2 servers that are close to full and a few others that are populated preety good
and its not taht hard to learn..just read the manual and join good tw squads and after a few rounds you understand just about everything theer is to pr
this mod took me away from bf2...havent REALLY played it for a few months

Re: mod worth reinstall?
Depends where you live and what nights you play, but on average nights I see multiple servers filled up completely (5+ ?) and others that are half full or so. And during the weekends it's party time
.
Get yourself a microphone, beer and make sure to read the manual, so you know what you can expect. Then in-game, join squads named "voip", "teamwork", "awesome" (usually Frosty = SL
), etc. Then just stick with your squad and follow the SL's orders. If you don't like the squad, join another one (and don't let a bad first impression ruin your night).
It's a steep learning curve, we can all agree on that (you'll die a LOT the first few days, not always knowing what killed you
). But once you get the hang of it, you have entered your new life
.
Welcome to the mod, son!

Re: mod worth reinstall?
there usually are about 20 populated servers running PR at any given time, and about 2 or 3 have 40+ players durign times when no one is online, and about 5-6 severs with 40+ players during peak hours.Slivin wrote:I have not played BF2 in years. yes.Slivin wrote:Are there at least 100 people, or more?
not too long if you can handle taking orders from your squad leader and your commander. I would suggest reading the manual first.Slivin wrote:How big is the learning curve (I can deal with any, I've played WW2 Online)?
only similarity is the fact that they use the same engine. PR is radically different from vBF2Slivin wrote:How much does it differ from vbf2?
most people in my experience can help out newbies, but im sure you can find a clan. but it's just a damn good thing you have a mic.Slivin wrote:Are there any clans that are willing to help new players (I have a microphone)?

Re: mod worth reinstall?
thank you for your responses and i am currently reinstalling bf2 so i can install this, I came into bf2 because I nearly came at the idea of squads and objectives, but was sorely disappointed. I'm glad to hear that squad tactics are a vital part of this mod.
