There's a very fine, blurred line between valour and suicide. For example running up to a British APC and slapping a C4 on the side is suicidal (no less so than using a jeep to do the same normally), but Vanilla cultured Squad Leaders order it all the time on Militia maps, and nearly as frequently on conventional AAS maps. These are orders that would be unlikely to be given at all in a real war because they wouldn't be effective, and it is highly likely that conventional tank-killing assets would be more readily available.

I personally do C4 ram raids on British bunkers in Mestia, always with the intention of surviving (not always being so lucky). I don't find this terribly unrealistic - irregular forces in numerous conflicts have used vehicles in similar ways, and in a symmetrical battle, the British will beat the Miltia every single time.

I would say no to all but the insurgents.

.8 looks like it's seeing some changes from suicidal gameplay for regular forces. :) I know some of those tactics sound crazy, but they happen from time to time. I only saw that mine thing once in a game, but the same guy used it over and over again until he was kicked.

-Using a rocket launcher (Rifleman AT or Anti-Tank) on the floor to blow self up and hostiles. (Much like the GL tactic, less splash.)

-Using a transport helicopter, flying over an enemy position and dropping the crate in hopes of squishing enemies. I've witnessed it on Al Basrah, Quinling and Jabal so far.

Don't like them really. However, I'm prone to some risky antics if i think it worth it. I've been know to strap SLAMs to a truck drive it at a bunker and run away, but the idea is you allow yourself enough time to get out of range before detonation...

Still feels a bit gamey though, but then so does running in whacking down slams and running away and hoping you dont get shot in the back. RPs and bunkers/FBs are never going to be the pinnacle of realism in PR, but they serve their purpose in simulating higher troop numbers etc.

That's not really suicide tactics though, More like Chuck Norris tactics and it ain't half kickass if you make it out aliiive! lol

I would say charging into a bunker with the intention of blowing yourself up on it is a daft suicide tactic.

However I've had moments with my squad where we secure an enemy bunker and place C4 on it, the engy will be rearming or (the way I like it) he just places the C4 and runs (get ammo from OUR ammo crates etc) and all of a sudden the enemy is upon you! desperately you try to fight your way out but its no use, wave after wave of them keep coming... One SM down... shit 2 down Fire Fire FIRE!!! COVER!!! MEEEEEDIC!!!!! MEDIC'S DOWN!!!! ENGY'S HIT!! your SM dive to the engineer and start patching him up but the bleeding's too bad and he bleeds out, bang you're hit "Grab the detonator!!!" HIT IT!!! and kaboom up goes the enemy bunker in a last ditch heroic effort...

Sorry went to a bad place right there

The Malitia are arms dealers and mercenaries. They are primarily concerened with getting paid. Its pretty damn hard to do that if you've just blown yourself up.

Anyway,

If it isn't against the server rules, anything goes. If it is, no go.

But generally no conventional force would enguage in such tactics, so if put down to it I would say no, it should not be permitted for conventional forces or Malitia.
The key to modernising any weapon is covering them in glue and tossing them in a barrel of M1913 rails until they look "Modern" enough.
