Do you mean like Forgotten Hope 2? If you do I think that that looks really bad, I agree that a minimalistic HUD is needed however I feel that something should be behind the weapons.

Something i'd find very cool, though it would be a bit bigger, it would still be quite realistic:

You could, instead of having just a number like 1 3 or the letter A, make the fire selector look like the one of the real weapon.

Means for an M4 there would be the word SEMI or BURST displayed, or whatever it is irl, for an G3 the number 1 or 20 etc. But not just white letters instead in the color they have irl, like red numbers for the G3 and like some kind of engraving (word?) for the M4. Dunno how the fire selector of the L85 or the chinese rifle look, but well, in doubt a white number will do.

I'd find it cool, though it might take too much space on the screen.

(Dont beat me if thats stupid :p )

It's a good idea, however it may be hardcoded as vBF2 uses just 1,3 or A. If it is possible to change it, I assume that having a different one for each weapon would be hardcoded, but don't quote me on that.

Yea, you're probably right, didnt think that far.

Though you might be able to fool BF2 by telling it the G3 was shooting a 1,01 round burst or something, and link a different number (well, a different design) to that.

You need to download .dds plugin from nvidia, google nvidia's photoshop dds tools.

And yeah, just have your shortcut redirect to pr_edit.

Thanks for all the help Chuck, I've downloaded and installed the .dds plug-in and will be doing some more designing over the week-end.

Spec_Operator - I'm no coder so you're better off asking a developer if that's possible. If it is then I'll have a look to see if having "Auto" or "Semi" looks OK in the HUD, but I do like the idea.

Ok, been a while as always, school takes priority but I've had a little fiddle with things added scanlines etc. The compass is confusing me and I remember somewhere a Dev said that they already had a compass planned for .85 with less of a black outline.

The text scrawls on the weapon select are NOT final and will be replaced with the actual weapon info such as M4-Aimpoint.

Any thoughts/views people have like more techy or more grungy (woot, managed to create 2 words in one post :p ) or as it is?

The ammo counter needs work in terms of text positioning and size but that is all drawn in game and not as a .tga file.

Commander VoIP button and re-arm and healing icons will be next, maybe with attack etc markers, if people are still interested.

Oooh nice progress =) I especially like the typeface for the numbers.

One thing though, for such a simple typeface, you need the background to be more simple. I say remove the crosshatching, and have less of a contrasting grunge.

They look fine to me, it's just the graphics, giving the edgy destroyed look.

Those new lines look nice, but I'll have to get used to the amount of ammo font (digital clock style). :) Looks like another step from BF2, to an even more custom mod.

The only thing that bother me is the parachute icon. I made a nice little parachute guy for you to use on it instead.

Just sent you a PM, I'll use the main picture but the bevel/emboss on the icon looks a bit scratchy (pixelated around the edges.)

I've had a poke around in the PR client files and I'm a little bit confused, the ammo counter is huge and the weapon selection BGs are tiny, it this to compensate for the vBF2 ammo hugeness and smaller resolutions?

I was also interested to find the files for the javelin :p .

I'm going to try and get this HUD re-worked to be less contrasting and then get it all working in-game, but to do that I need the renders of the individual weapons and I don't have 3DS Max, so if someone in the know could send me the renders of the guns on their own that would be most appreciated. Add me to xfire as cs01 if you can give me these and I'll get to work :D .

I know that the round one is pixelated, it was just a little "teaser" that I did in a few seconds to show you an example on how to make my parachute guy look good.

Cheers, got the PSD and made the para icon, VoIP icon re-made as well as one for the commander, now on to the heal etc icons.

Do we need the parachute icon? You get a sound when it deploys, I can't remember if you can actually see it when you look up though... :s

I know it's only 1 icon but less hud clutter FTW!

It's going to need a Dev to code it all up when it's done, and that should be done in about a week after I am able to get the renders of the weapons, any Dev able to help me out getting these? :p .

Ok, just PMed fuzzhead asking if he is willing to send them to me or knows someone who can and as soon as I have these I will make the final "teaser" (if that's what you want to call it) of the HUD complete with weapons and para icons etc then I'm going to get going on making the .tga files with all alpha channels in place (all 193 files!) and get it all ready to be used (hopefully.)

Again a thanks to Ranaik for giving a major help is making the repair/heal/ammo etc icons.
