Wow.
I would like to thank the devs for the amazing work.
I'm a Forgotten hope player from its first release, so I'd like to presume I know about mods. I played PR about 2 years ago, liked it but as a ww2 fan I always go to FH.
The dev. teams a bit slower than you guys over there, and things get slow.
So I saw the new release and tried it.
It's great work.
There's two types of experiences you can have here.
1. A fully developed interaction with leadership and voip com.
that leads to great fun, win or lose.
2. The usual disaster.(this can usually be avoided simply by listening to the squad for 1 minute)
Every detail you put in is to spec., There's just a few minor things:
Helicopters are way out of "reality" in controls. I'm a helicopter pilot in real life, and wondering if you will get the advice of heli pilots to adjust that(hoping for as "sim" as possible).
The marksman and sniper kit. Whats with the incredible bullet drift?
Is there a forum course on this that's not in the manual?
Head shots. In FH you shoot em in the head once with any gun, they are dead.
Is this not the case in project reality?
Ive much more to learn, but I wanted to express that you have made an amazing thing as compared to the early releases of this mod.
In fact, so much that I hope the FH developers might adopt your spawn/squad system to some degree. It is a fundamental change to that arcade EA system.
Really well done guys.
Aloha

I'd guess the engine is limiting the Devs pretty much here. Though I'm sure they would always like to hear some RL experiences, maybe they can include one or two things.Helicopters are way out of "reality" in controls. Marskman: Getting fixed for 0.85 afaik. Right now it is only a bit more accurate than assault rifles. The marksman and sniper kit. Whats with the incredible bullet drift?

Sniper: You have to wait some time before you can shoot. After body movement, about 8 seconds. After slight mouse movement, only a few seconds. If you press "3" or select the weapon again while zoomed in, you'll hear a breathing sound. Once that sound is over, you should have maximum accuracy unless you moved. Shooting has been made difficult to stop newbies from requesting the sniper kit and using it like in Vanilla.
Headshots are always fatal and people hit in the head cannot be revived. Sometimes you'll think you hit someone in the head, while you actually didnt - this is a ping and hitbox problem, caused by the BF2 engine itself.Head shots. In FH you shoot em in the head once with any gun, they are dead.

Thanks, and yeah I was talking to another Heli pilot yesterday in game, I havent pinned it yet, but excessive speeds shown are not attainable due to retreating blade stall, and the response of the cyclic(stick) seems very delayed, power requirements of all choppers starts at about 97%. I know this is a compromise between power and collective , but it really feels unnatural.Spec_Operator wrote:I'd guess the engine is limiting the Devs pretty much here. The sniper comments make total sense, there is no windage or range drop within those parameters?
The way this game shines, I wouldn't be at all suprised if the devs were/are getting major interest from the "default" gaming companies.
Forgotten Hope2 shines heavily too, it just seems to take them longer.
Your Devs have placed their rally point well.
Aloha.

Re: First impressions
The speeds displayed on the HUD are way off. As far as I know the PR team never modded the HUD, so it's DICE's fault. I mean, the thing shows you going several kph when you have barely moved from the landing pad... Unless there's a hurricane going on in every PR map.greenbottle wrote:Thanks, and yeah I was talking to another Heli pilot yesterday in game, I havent pinned it yet, but excessive speeds shown are not attainable due to retreating blade stall, and the response of the cyclic(stick) seems very delayed, power requirements of all choppers starts at about 97%. I am not a helicopter pilot (in real life), but I always found that helis in PR have very little momentum. It seem that the moment I level off I start bleeding speed off like I'm dragging a sail behind me. I was wondering what somebody who knows what they're talking about thinks about this...

Wind is impossible with the BF2 engine. Bullet drop starts somewhere between 300 - 600 meters, depending on the rifle.there is no windage or range drop within those parameters?
