Re: Engineers and C4
Now that the C4 has been removed I have seen entire squads rushing bunkers to destroy them with their knives out. Its really funny to see them running at you but how is that realistic.

Closest thing in pr to a bayonet chargecrazyasian11 wrote:Now that the C4 has been removed I have seen entire squads rushing bunkers to destroy them with their knives out. Its really funny to see them running at you but how is that realistic.
A sledgehammer would be an awesome idea for the removal of assets! Not sure if its possible to have it used as a melee weapon though, anyone with more knowledge than me help on that one? Could get rid of the trip flare if a weapon space is needed and replace it with that so the engie plays as he should do rather than a confused rifleman with a spannerAtrovenator wrote:Or rather, equip them with a spade -and- a breaching hammer. Breaching hammer can be used on interactive statics (rather or in addition to the shotgun) and deals damage to players and structures but not to armour. A sledgehammer being available to a -combat- engineer is not at all inconceivable and it would give them a fantastic melee option as well. I agree that the C4 was over the top, but as a construction worker myself, I think that sledging through a door/wall/sandbags/barbed wire/bunker (with multiple hits of course, depending on the surface) is pretty darn conceivable. Especially since they -do- really use hammers in urban breach as well as to clear various battlefield obstructions.

Re: Engineers and C4
Melee weapons are just very short range projectiles, it's perfectly possible, but a SLAM is probably the best comprimise here. Two C4 bricks that the engie fools with to take out, messes with more while deploying and has a 30 second timer. Capable of destructing FOBs, Barbed Wire, Sandbags, .50s,and caches.vilhelm123 wrote:Closest thing in pr to a bayonet charge

C4 wont explode before you press the explode button :/
It wont explode even if you burn it. C4 is used because its stabile.
i mean like, say your killed, INS get it, run top a corner of a building place it and run away and blow 20 others up. That's why they dont carry it.

Re: Engineers and C4
sounds good to... But were is the problem with the slams? They dont do enough damage on tanks or apc´s that anyone really want to attack a tank with the slam in his hand....Atrovenator wrote:Or rather, equip them with a spade -and- a breaching hammer. Re: Engineers and C4
2 things, Engineers should get Multitools, then they could cut barbed wire, destroy enemies communications equipment (good idea BTW), maybe even sabotage enemy cars.
Also, should every Combat Engi get AT mines? If they get SLAMs maybe they could have realistic modes, like the Side-attack mode and Bottom-attack mode for destroying enemy cars and trucks, and maybe a 2 minute timed detonation mode. Then dedicated miners, who use AT mines can be a seperate specialised class...
So maybe:
1: Knife
2: Multitool
3: Rifle w/ Iron sights
4: MasterKey/C2/Battering Ram
5: SLAMs
6: Wrench/Spanner
7: Binoculars
8: Dressings
