["Suggestion"] Transport Helicopters

so hey guys i was testing last night OPK and was flying a chopper and realized that when you push w and going up the wheels move into the chopper and the side doors closed, i thought a looks good and the infantry in the back is save to from getting shot out. so i want to suggest that we could remake the chopper like the huey that it close the doors if your going up and if your going to land it get opend again. if some one dont know what i mean i made a 2 min animation for you:<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/-M8pTXdzykE&hl ... ram><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/-M8pTXdzykE&hl=de&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>[/youtube]

the main reason is not that it would look cool or more animations! the reason is to not get shot in a chopper. it happens alot that you get shot and bleed out and there is no medic in the chopper and the helo cant land around there.
so if the doors are closed while you are flying to your squad or with your squad to the LZ your not have to fear to shot out.

i think much guys will now say damn dont close the doors i want to shoot out. yeah! you want but you dont have a chance to hit a target while your flying. so if you want hit a target and its a good pilot he can hover in the are and the doors get open by self cause if you dont push w the doors will get automaticly open and you can shoot out.
so there is no reason for get upset.

the next point is IT LOOKS SO COOL. na just kidding its easier to get in the merlin. if a squad wait for extraction it will be in a group standing in a circle for covering the LZ if the merlin lands and open all 3 entrances(2 doors and hetch) all guys can get in as fast as possible from every direction.

this is my suggestion and i post it here cause there are some choppers in progress for the community forces and i could do (with some help) the animations.
it would be cool if most of you agree with my thoughts

i think this actually has more prevelance when referring to the Merlin, than it does to the huey.. now i won't have to worry about idiots opening up the ramp before i land, screwing up the landing.

yes but why you should leave the doors open it only increase the chance of getting shot. yeah and it would fix the old merlin ramp problem

yea i must agree. i've been shot quite a few times in the huey. as for the merlin i dont think it would work so well because some of the soldier positions are in the doorways.

Sure its cool but dont the devs have a lot to do already. It would be nice but its certainly liveable without.

It's true... I guess the Devs are pretty busy ATM so work on this but nonetheless it's pretty good suggestion :thumbsup:

In PoE2 the Ukraine Mi-24P in its transport variant also closes the door when flying. Although it doesn't do the same with the wheels =P Meh... PoE2 issues.

Anyway... I have my questions... would these automatic doors actually protect the passengers from shots or the bullets would still cause damage (In PR)?

did you get ever got shot in the back of a merlin?(from a bullet!) me not so the other thing is-> i have to quote myself

It's a great idea. So much work required though, my god...

Also, giving choppers player controlled movable parts like that is what we think caused the infamous Merlin/Huey lag. Note that in 0.8 it's just on the Merlin (we removed all the movable doors code from the Huey that was left over from 0.75).

Nobody gets the lag in the Huey anymore right? It's just the Merlin?

good idea but i think it should be optional, for instance the soldiers sitting in the way have the option, they might want to give fire with an RPg say...

if they leave the door open themselves its their own fault they get shot

in reality doors dont close when you go up, the soldiers do it them selves

Same here, atleast on my main account, I have experienced lagg on another one, on the same computer.
