I spoke with Jaymz, he's head of the sound department, he said the m16 will be changed, I agreed also the m16/m4 sounded like a barking dog. Here's an example of the m16/m4 variations I created for Armed Assault.

They are more a bit on the percussive side, which was what I was aiming for so I modeled more to what I 've been used to hearing when I used to work near a military proving grounds, but for PR, i'm not sure if Jaymz wil use any of the rifle sounds I've contributed but I think the community is aiming more at a Hollywood style sound. Imho I think it should be more real hence the name of the mod, but depends on everyone's flavor really.

Imagine Muttrah with this echo-effect bouncing between the buildings.

Yeah, it'd be nice to have that effect, I know the effect is there when you are in the the contrete tunnels , if a different echo or reverderation effct can be used in the city now that would be cherry! But for the time being it will have to be a sound some place in the middle because since there are alot of open battle grounds. I am also making a sound mod that is more Urban for ArmA.

you guys wouldnt like what you hear when you fire a real m16... you hear a loud pop as you suspect but what is almost louder than that is the recoil spring rapidly being compressed and then let loose. you dont hear it unless you are actually firing it, the spring is right in the stock at your cheek so its very loud.

i hope they will make it at 0.85 and btw i was stuck with this for pretty long time
not only in urban but the m16 sound does not match =S
i even fired one so i know that on PR its not the right one

I'd say, add some percussiveness like in my idea with VOP echos and I would suggest having the creator for VOPsound for the new weapon sounds. I love the echo. Its very hard to clean up echo withtout making it sound like shots fired under water.
