What he's saying is that modern day naval vessels are so powerful that, if implemented with full realism in PR, the round would be over within a minute of starting.

Which is true.
One of my fondest World in Conflict memories is still the Pine Valley mission (which is in the demo) where you get a last-minute rescue from the Battleship USS Missouri and spend the next few minutes blasting everything Soviet in the city to shreds with her guns.

Having a naval battle would be interesting, but it'd require a huge map, and due to the long range of weapon systems today, even an 8x8 km map (the map size of the FS Mod's space battles) would probably not be enough.

The mod called Battleships does let you stand and walk around while someone else drives the boat. also different people can control the cannons and it can spawn boats and stuff.

But, unless you are interested and make the initiative of making the models and getting people interested, it'll never be accomplished.
As I was reading this thread. I Was thinking just the same thing. Then I got to your post and was like, "Pants" Somebody already said it. If I had the skill, I Would really go to work on this idea. I Think's its a great way to add jet ski's and maybe 2 new factions.

"Somali Pirates"and say the British "Special Boat Service".

Could be really good if planed out right.

Battleships are no longer in service in most counrties, long range missles and better things took them over. Thats the only reason i think there not in PR and teh fact that really no sea battles happen anymore.

And those long range missiles are REALLY long range, wouldn't be any fun at all, apart from if you were using them for some sort of off map support, in which case they would rape, and that wouldn't be very fun at all either really.

I wouldnt mind some fastboat maps, but I think it is unrealistic to even try to fit a large scale modern naval battle into the confines of the BF2 engine.

I sure would love a patrol with a Mark V SOC.

We could also make a map like there was in BF2 SP where the MEC starts on land and try to take control over a American Carrier You got a battle on the sea.
Its almost the same idea as the pirates attack ship only whit a real army so you should also can use helicopters to bring the soldiers on board
