Guns Sound The Same?
i realised that most guns have another gun (in the game) that sounds just like it. like the G3 and the MEC's LMG are EXACTLY the same. and so is the china's QBZ and the LMG. And most sniper rifles have the same sounds. all the snipers only use like 1 or 2 sounds. And so with most other guns. could we get some new sounds devs? or is there something i'm missing.
i dont mean to insult the devs or anything, they do great work but i just realised how most guns sound the same.

-Well, the PLA LMG is simply a different version of the QBZ-95, the QBB-95, and so it should sound the same.

As the last two said, it's because they're generally just variants of the same weapon.

Re: Guns Sound The Same?
The sound is a combination of the round and the weapon materials, thats why M4's sound about the same as M16's, and the all L85 variants sound the same.
But the M16 and the L85 sound different.

Yeah as others have said it's to do with the round, most coalition forces use the NATO 5.56 so same exact round same exact sound
Also just wondering why in PR the SA80 is known as the L85? Know its off topic but always wondered.

I'm not sure, possibly either one of these things they do, armies like renaming things, the AR-15 became an M16, the M92FS became an M9, the swedish Glock17 is the Pistol 88 etc.
Or maybe it's just the model name, like the M16 is a family of rifles, but the one used is the M16A4, so is the SA80 a family of rifles, but the one used is SA80-L85 or something.
Off the top of my head those are the most logical solutions.

Re: Guns Sound The Same?
well i dont know how much you know on the subject of designations, so sorry if this is stuff you already knowCheditor wrote:Yeah as others have said it's to do with the round, most coalition forces use the NATO 5.56 so same exact round same exact sound

L85A2 is the designation for the SA80A2 rifle, much like L86 is the designation for the LSW and L110 is the para variant of the Minimi, L7A2 is the GPMG etc etc
rather then just calling stuff by there 'name' the devs included the designations
also different countries that use the same weapon (though sometimes with small changes) will have there own designation for that weapon e.g. the FN Minimi is, the L110 to the brits, M249 SAW to the US , C9 to the canadians and F89 to Austrailians to name a few
hope that explains it sort of, hopefully someone might be able to do it better

SA80 was a weapon group project; Small Arms for the 1980's. It is not a specific weapon.
A weapon's "sound" is decided through multiple factors. Barrel weight and length, internal mechanics, round fired, etc.
Think wind instruments.

Makes alot more sense, when i was in the ACF we had the L85 A1 Cadet GP rifle but i purely thought it was called the L85 because it had calibre lowerd etc, but now i know thanks everyone
