Update
My deadline for getting this map complete is Christmas, so I've been putting in the hours to getting the map completed. The map has all of its roads and just needs a lot of going over and finishing touches

Looking good, i like that first picture you can imagine the Americans advancing into a hail of RPGs, PKMS and IEDS along that road.

This compound is an important stronghold because you can see both bridges from here and can over watch all the roads coming from the US main

I'm very close to completing the map (excluding ambient effects and layouts)
Hopefully with some help of the PR community, the map will be ready for submitting to the Dev's

Well I am pretty close, but I MUST finish the map by Christmas time - 30th of Jan

To do list:
-Finish Undergrowth/ Undergrowth
-Add Ladders
-Check map for errors
-And ambient effects
-Setup Layers
-Create Minimap

...I think thats everything

Good to hear, hopefully we will get the opportunity to test this map on a 100p server soon.

Didn't want to go any cloudier than the one shown at the bottom of the list
However, I do like the two sky textures everyone else mentioned. The late sunset 02 is also the one I was most considering

Why not a few for different layers? Alought for Iraq, I suggest sunny as I remember more sunny then cloudy days in iraq.

I'd say early morning works best for this map.

Also, for the city, I think some more characteristic sidewalk tiles (such as those in muttrah city) would give your map a more unique feel to it. If you need textures for it I can certainly make some for you.

Rabbit - That seems like a good idea; one layer with early sunrise and the other with late sunset 02
Echo331 - Rather than using side walks, I'm creating a very dirty and trash riddled city. I left it till last so that I was sure that all the objects were in the right place. Here are some screenshots of what I've been doing now...

Have a good look at Black gold, imo the urban areas there are the best example of how to use detailtextures and undergrowth in cities to look really 'lived in' and imperfect. Look in the alleyways in particular for how the mapper has created bits of dirt sticking out etc and given the ground a real 3D fee.
