Though the one in Khamisiyah is.

I find muttrah especially problematic... Having my FPS drop to 10 and sometimes even lower.. this map got unplayable for me..

I mean it's not the city itself that's causing the fps drop.

I loaded up Muttrah on a local server and fps almost never dropped below 50.

This. Even on local, I'm getting 60-90fps on Kashan with no bots, but when I add bots I get 20-40fps. Add mumble and launcher problems for public server and I get 10-30.

Haven't tested much as I'm losing my fate in PR but it was 48 bots. I'm guessing the more players/bots there are the worse your performance will be.

Yeah, there is a definite correlation between the number of players and poor performance.

Will this be fixed or do I just give up on this amazing mod? I tried everything. No game gives me issues. It's like they forgot to optimize or something. Yet people with duo cores have no issue . Which does not make much sense . I just hope they fix it.

We hope haha. They need to make it more accessible for high end rigs. It lower server count. Something.

They can't really do much (for some reason) and they also won't.

The devs did, since you cherish the new effects a lot more than performance. Even if I turn my settings all the way down, to the point where the game looks terrible, I still get 20-30 less fps than in previous versions.

The following is a guide to speed up in particular BF2 and PR, and your PC in general. This guide is still rough, and will be updated as I find time.

Also, before attempting any of this, please post your system specs from the PRLauncher->Support->Copy to Clipboard menu.

Try removing all the windows UI graphics options, basically make your WIndows look like WinNT,

If you have WIndows XP you can use this: Tweak UI - Free download and software reviews - CNET Download.com and turn off all the windows stuff, like windows shadows, mouse shadows, maximize windows animation, etc.
If you have Windows Vista, 7 , 8 2008, 2012 you can use this: Ultimate Windows Tweaker, a TweakUI for Windows 7 & Vista

Also try Razer GameBooster Razer Game Booster Free Download, Speed Up PC for Top Gaming Performance to shutdown unneeded background processes.

Please note you can do this manually, but you can really run into trouble if you don't know what you're doing, and PR Tech SUpport sure the heck can't be helping anyone who goes down this route. GameBooster will get you 95% of the way there through automated one click procedures, which is good enough.
Windows 7 ? Black Viper?s Windows 7 Service Pack 1 Service Configurations
All Windows Service Configurations: ? Service Configurations

3a. (Vista/7/8 ) Use High Performance Power Plan

The default Power Setting in the ?Power Saver? plan limits the CPU to 50 percent in Windows 7 | Vista. Open the Power Options Control Panel and change it to ?High Performance? to give your CPU full throttle.

3b. (XP/Vista/7/8 ) Download Bitsum ProcessLasso Free. Make sure you download the correct version, Free 32 bit or Free 64 bit, Process Lasso - Automate and optimize process priorities, CPU affinities, power profiles, and more!
-- Start PR, JOIN AN ONLINE SERVER RUNNING PUNKBUSTER, alt tab to desktop, open ProcessLasso window (ProcessLasso is in the taskbar), right click on PRBF2.exe, PRLauncher.exe, and PRMumble.exe and pnkbstra.exe and pnkbstrB.exe and give them default priority status of High, set the PRBF2.exe to gaming mode, and give them high or higher access to RAM.
Unpark your CPU Cores in ProcessLasso->Options->Configure CPU Core Parking->UNpark your cores.
After this, you have to assign PRBF2.exe to a core other than Core0.

continued:

After this, you have to assign PRBF2.exe to a core other than Core0.
'[R-COM wrote:LITOralis.nMd;1927766']Thaks for this goes to Antol.PL , who first came up with the idea.

[html]It should be noted that in the past AMD processors have had issues with core parking and there is a hotfix available for that:

Download Bitsum ProcessLasso Free. Make sure you download the correct version, Free 32 bit or Free 64 bit, Process Lasso - Automate and optimize process priorities, CPU affinities, power profiles, and more!
-- Start PR, alt tab to desktop, open ProcessLasso window, right click on PRLauncher.exe, PRBF2.exe and and give them default priority status of High, set the PRBF2.exe to gaming mode, and give both of them high or higher access to RAM. Right click on PRLauncher.exe and select CPU Core, give it access to Core0, Apply, close the submenu. Right click on PRBF2.exe and select CPU Core, give it access to Core1, Apply, close the submenu.

Adjust the Core number by how many physical cores your CPU has,
if you have a dual core,
Put PRLauncher on the first core, Core0
Put PRBF2.exe on the second core, Core1

if you have a triple core,
Put PRLauncher on the second core, Core1
Put PRBF2.exe on the Third core, Core2

if you have a Quad core, you should probably not need this.
Put PRLauncher on the second core, Core1
Put PRBF2.exe on the Third core, Core2

As for increasing your fps, we have some common solutions,
delete the shaders cache in your c:\Users\[USERNAME]\Documents\ProjectReality\mods\bf2\cache folder
then
1. defrag your hard drive. the PR and addons and update installers tend to get compressed files fragmented, which slows down read/writes and slows down fps.
2A. Download and install IOBit Gamebooster3. Speed Up Slow Computer, Keep PC and Internet Secure, Freeware Download - IObit
MajorGeeks.com has a decent video tutorial on using this program:
Using IOBit Game Booster 3 by Majorgeeks.com - YouTube

2B. Read through these guides:
Windows 8 Install & Optimization Guide for SSDs & HDDs - Sean's Windows 8 Install & Optimization Guide for SSDs & HDDs
Windows 7 Install & Optimization Guide for SSDs & HDDs - Sean's Windows 7 Install & Optimization Guide for SSDs & HDDs
Windows 8, 7 , Vista, and XP Tweakguides from Tweakguides.com TweakGuides.com - The TweakGuides Tweaking Companion

3. Determine which OS you have, and if it is 32 bit or 64 bit. Once you are 100% certain you know , follow this guide for your OS:
https://www.realitymod.com/forum/f27-pr ... b-ram.html

4. Check your Page File, if set to a sliding value, I suggest
deleting pagefile.
rebooting.
resetting pagefile manually to a single minimum/maximum.
Here is the raw information to determine your correct pagefile: How to determine the appropriate page file size for 64-bit versions of Windows Server 2008 and Windows Server 2008 R2
And here is a video tutorial to figure out your correct pagefile size:
How To Optimize The Windows 7 Paging File - Ep. 11 - YouTube

then optionally:
manually setting it to a single minimum/maximum, and getting a defrag progam that will move the pagefile to the beginning of your hard drive. A free option is mydefrag.com :FAQ Special files - How do I defragment "C:\pagefile.sys" (the swapfile)?

Your video card can possibly be overclocked, which could add 3 to 10 fps,
Please be careful and read enough information to understand what you are doing before overclocking your CPU and/or GPU!

SO.
Step 1. fixes any hard drive issues.
Step 2. shut downs unneeded background processes freeing up RAM and system resources.
Step 3. Gives the BF2 and PR.exe programs the ability to use individually over 2GB of RAM when needed, and reduces the amount of RAM being reserved (wasted) by the OS.
Step 4. Create fixed size Pagefile and defragmenting it.
These steps will either make your PR game faster and have you jumping for joy, or it will at least make your PC faster for other games.

I also suggest this guide, but if you use Bitsum Process Lasso to unpark your cores, be careful about the Use High Performance Power Plan change.
Make Windows Startup, Run, Shutdown Faster

-defragmented HDD
-used Game Booster 3
-used Processes Lasso
-disabled core parking
-tweaked stuff with Glary Utilities

No performance increase. Getting 45-70fps on Kashan local with 0 bots and 15-30fps with 48 bots. Unplayable.

I reinstalled Win7 a week ago and, 2. and 3. have no effect anyway (tested), no idea what 4 is and 1 is the last dignifying part of the settings so I'm not getting rid of it. Not worth it anyway.

OC your q8200 , on that mobo can easily get 400fsb, maybe up to 415fsb, keep RAM at 1:1 , will get you up near 2,8Ghz, you'll be good to go.

Exactly which Radeon HD 4800 model do you have? OC that too.

Hey Guys.

Question for those much more computer literate than myself - what sort of FPS should I be expecting to get (and what graphics quality can I run at with these specs) --- don't judge me for playing on a Mac. I've heard enough of it.

Thanks

Major._Spork, that is a decent notebook,
If you drop resolution to 1440x900 you should be able to play at decent framerates and medium settings.
