Never join a squad which has a non-Officer SL.
Kick all snipers and marksmen.
Kick all people with no mic.
Kick people who request special kits without SL approval.
Kick people who do not follow orders or stray too far.
Wait for decent players to join.

:D
Marksmen and snipers can be very useful if they stay with the squad and especially when defending on maps that have open terrain. If you're holding a super FOB on Kashan or Black Gold, for example, it can be more useful to have a sniper or marksmen in the squad instead of an AR, because AR is nearly useless at extreme ranges.

Started playing PR about a week ago. Really great stuff. I've been playing Insurgency because it was (subjectively) the best game my laptop could run. Sadly if you're a pubscrub like me Insurgency is usually worse than a game of CS:GO in terms of communication and teamwork. I love the 'realism' factor that counter-strike lacks, heck, I love Quake too, but most of all I longed for the days of Armed Assault and Operation Flashpoint servers. (Laptop is not going to run ArmA 2 / 3 )

Then I found out about PR. Filled that void for solid gameplay that truly competes with with Armed Assault experience but with better paced objective based gameplay. It feels intense almost all the time. Although I would love to see bigger maps (I'll have to buy a decent PC to so I can run Squad on highest settings <3 ) I'm actually kind of liking the current maps and the sometimes chaotic firefights they enable.

Don't think the learning curve is too steep. Very high skill-cap, yes. I guess it doesn't hold your hand like *shudder* call of duty, but really not that hard to aim a rifle, read a compass, read a map, communicate. Anyone who has played ArmA / RO / 'realistic' type games should be able to apply their understanding of strategy (be it driving tanks, flying, or infantry) to PR maps and mechanics fairly quickly. I'd honestly say dota and even cs:go have a much higher learning curve and both have huge emphasis on team work and communication, but again if you pubscrub it things can go TERRIBLY wrong.

This is why I find PR community great. There is no 'scrub' level. The servers have admins and everyone plays almost like they're a clan even if it's just a pub game with complete strangers from all over the world.

I really do believe this is one of the most mature and generally warm online gaming communities, especially for a relatively small niche game - these types of groups can be really elitist and unwelcoming but I have to say the only real bad experiences I've had in PR so far are due to other newbies with no mics trying with a sniper kit SL. All of the 'veterans' I've played teamed with so far have been very understanding and helpful - big up to all of you. One guy even let me respawn with and practice fire the British HAT because moments earlier I had failed to realise it needs to seek for a few seconds and got myself and half the squad gunned down by an enemy BMP, but now I know better :P

Awesome job devs! Awesome job community! Keep it up!

Sometimes Insurgency can be more demanding on the hardware than, say an AAS map. Heck Fallujah is way more demanding than Kashan Desert or any non-urban style map.

I think he meant the FPS Game Insurgency, not the PR Gamemode

Yeah I meant Insurgency (the game in Source Engine)
It's good fun and has a small competitive scene. It's semi-realistic, balance comes first; I guess you could say it's a bit like Red Orchestra infantry only in a modern setting. Very fun, but mostly CQB with huge emphasis on pre-firing, ability to aim and rate of fire. Doesn't have the grand strategy or raw-realism feel that PR provides.
