No pics due to my being on a 56k connection. And photobucket HATES 56k connections...as do I.
Moving on. I have made the road that will lead from the airport to the city. I have also made a small lake just north of the airport with 4 buildings and a few wrecked cars. Just simulating a small village on the outskirts of the town. Like I said. This is not going to be 100% accurate to the smallest detail of city layout, but it will be as close as possible with care taken to avoid lag and stuff that people hate in video games.
I am working on undergrowth, but still cant get it to where I can see it. Maybe I'll look for a good tutorial. I have it placed, and in undergrowth view, it shows blue where I have placed it... but still, cant actually see it in render mode (even though it is checked to be rendered)
The city hasnt made much progress. It still seems to be lacking something, so I am going to load up Al Basrah and take some screenshots of the city (mainly textures, trash on the ground, walls, etc) just to get a better idea of what else to put in detail-wise that will make it more lived-in.
I have added the control points. Each has a radius of about 50-70 meters. That may change, we'll see. Added the insurgent spawn, Bakara Market, Durant's Crash Site, Wolcott's Crash Site (just the point, no BH or models there yet), the Target Building, the US Checkpoint, and the Airport.
Shaping up nicely. There will be some unavoidable open desert, but I am looking into ways to avoid them, or to make it not so noticable (like adding in the Lake, which looks quite nice, actually...)
So, To anyone who is following or just bored, there you go. When I get a faster connection (ie. dad's house) I will upload some pics. Hopefully, I will have made even more progress.
One thing I am wondering about is when I add in the skins the guys will use. I have the Ranger-esque camo skins from (sorry, I forgot who gave me them, youre on this site though..sorry!) and I am unsure as to when I put that information in. I am thinking this is much farther down the line, so it is not too important.
Anything anybody wants me to consider, let me know.
the satellite photos I saw showed that the sealine was not that rocky, whoever said it was, could you post back your knowledge, please? If you know more than me, which is unbelievably possible, post back and let me know where you learned this and I will gladly put it in.

Thanks all,
Okita
bonus-not-important-news:
I bought the recently re-released Black Hawk Down Extended Cut, havent watched it yet, but the new footage should be fun, even if its only 8 minutes... NO, I am not using it as research!

just for fun, and maybe some inspiration.
Also, I bought "When Trumpets Fade" (Hamburger Hill 2, in a sense) It stars the guy who played Mike Durant in BHD, I thought that was kinda cool. Its a good movie too. WWII, Hurtgen(sp?) Forest, just before the Battle of the Bulge.
