oh but there is this other thing about new ppl wanting to fly chopers and planes. in 0.5 i used to teach new pilots how to fly a LB mostly in mutrah city since we had 3 of em and also a BH. besides if i wasnt going to help them, i asked them to practice flying in the singleplayer. but now in 0.6 there are fewer chopers and aircraft to fly and also the spwan time is 20 freaking mins, so there is no way we can have new pilots crashing them

. so i think all the new pilots or the ones who want to practice flying realy need to get the
kahsan desert practicing map. i have heard about it but i dont know where it is in the forumes. so plz look it up and improve your skills in it before you get to fly in the real game. thank you

I really flip flop on this issue a lot but Strummer said something I feel like I have to respond to.
I don't often lock my squads but that's because I'm lazy and don't want the trouble of inviting and kicking but I have been in a lot of locked squads and in response to his comment" We were not the best squad coz the "cream of the crop" were all in there LOCKED squad of premadonas", I have a question.
I bought the base game, just like you.
I downloaded the mod, just like you.
Where does it say it owe it to you to be an educator and a mentor ?
Where does it say I must leave my squad open so every person with an attitude and desire for a specialty kit can pop in, take assets and roll onto certain death ?
There is an enormous amount of help on the forums and in the games for almost any conceivable problem you may have, from CTD to advice to the lovelorn, so my question is.......why can't I lock my squad and play a video game without feeling like I am " Leaving a Child Behind " because I won't stop to tell someone how to get a pilot kit.
" You need to be in a squad, that has at least 3 people, in order to request a kit, except pilot kit, squad can be 1, and you must be at the main flag or next to the aircraft for pilot kit, or next to the armor for armor kit, but other than that you can also use a rally point, must have 3+1 SL to set Rally Point and this will not give you crewman. pilot or Heavy AT, or you can be near a crate. "
That is the short answer to " Why can't I fly " and I'm pretty sure I left out a few details, but maybe you are right, maybe I am a churlish, snobbish Prima Dona because I refuse to type that 3-75 times a game to sort out those who can't be bothered to skim the manual.

'S.P.C-[Reality wrote:-;470040']taking a few mins of your time and helping ppl wont do any harm to you.
If you're in the middle of a particularly tough round it does.
Scenario: Sunday night on iGi server we've got a nearly full server and the game is tight & in full swing.
A player comes on and asks a fairly straightforward "How do I?" question which was duly answered.
Then another one, which was again answered.
Then another which, because we were in the middle of action, could not be answered at that precise moment in time. Because this wasn't answered as speedily as the guy wanted (he spammed the same question twice) he started to get a bit huffy.
After a short time he got the reply "RTFM" from somewhere, at which he typed a reply along the lines of "You guys don't want to help", or some such.
Now: we'd been more than helpful with our previous replies but to expected to be "Experts On Tap" and drop everything to reply to multiple queries is, IMO, selfish to say the least. We want to play PR too

we don't want to spend the majority of our time as gurus to people that can't or wont, as AD&A says, at least skim the manual. It takes hardly any time to do that
The forums are the place to go if you have a more detailed query that can't be answered in either of the aforementioned guides or would be inappropriate to answer in the middle of a game. An analogy: you wouldn't jump into the middle of a football (soccer) or American football match that's in full sway and start asking the players what the rules were and expect to walk away with this knowledge and with your head still attached to your shoulders. Generally, seasoned players will answer most questions gladly if they're posted here or on a clan site. Mid-game queries are a no-no most times.
Rule of thumb? If the server's not full or nearly full then queries stand a better chance of being answered by players. If the server's full..... consult the wiki.

I think there's a certain "chill factor" that has to be employed with newer players. Yea, it sucks when an awesome round gets busted up by someone on your squad popping up behind you and taking shots at a guy 500 meters away, thus giving up your squad. But, one of the things I like about the guys I play with in KTA - it usually only takes one time to say "dude, follow our lead", or something to that affect. From experience, being an *** and ultra hardcore gets you absolutely nowhere. I've been in rounds with plenty of the "vets" that I see on these boards, and I've watched many of them noob it up on more than one occasion. As the homies say, get over yourselves.
I'll be the first to tell a guy, "don't worry about it, we've all done the same shit". The holier than thou attitudes are ridiculous and totally transparent. The first guy that cries "n00b!!!" is usually the biggest n00b of the bunch.

Ok, in respose to my previous post, I was waiting for the chopper to spawn, and was shot. Second time was the next day and was flying a little bird, land at forward flag to cap with person in tow and BAM! taken out again.
He didn't ask how to fly a 'copter. If he did I would have been happy to say how (that's how I learnt). But no. When asked about the tk he thought it was funny. Why would players help noobs like that. The later questions got answered with read the wiki.... the response can't be bothered. Why would anyone else bother?

true. i hate vanilla smacktards doing that. but there are some noobs who gently ask questions and dont have the vanilla behavior. if i happen to meet ppl like that, i would even screw a round for myself to teach the guy how things works. but most of the time its a few questions about kits and stuff which gets answered in a few mins.

Thing is, they all think, they can fly the helicopters, because they think, handling is the same as vBF2

true. i cant count the times someone has offered to ferry me and my squad closer to the front saying
yeah, I can fly, I'm actually pretty good
only to have the chopper flip on takeoff or nose dive after moving forward... then you see a message or hear VOIP like
What the heck, the handling's different from BF2? Lame.
While me and everyone else is dead and not helping our team cuz of someone who couldnt fly but thought he could
After reading this thread, I promise to be niced to all PR players and like some have said, take my time to maybe even teach thm for a round, start a noob squad or something... I'm inspired towards greatness.

In every game I have ever played that has helicopters there are a percentage of people who lie to themselves and others and claim " Yeah, I can fly " while ferverntly hoping this will be the time they don't crash.
I like shiny toys too but I learn to fly ALONE and have little or no sympathy for those who attempt OJT when it comes to flying.

I feel so proud of myself...
Some kid on youtube
1..is that a puni jeep meh cnt drive that1 without bin a certain guy ill just drive this big jeep thing insted 2..wanna have fun blowing stuff up in a tank, you cnt unless your the right guy n have a team 3.. is that a spawn neer there base i see cool (clicks to spawn) WTF, this isnt where i clicked spawned,oh well, try again (commits suicide) nice 1min w8 after suicide, WFT same place but this time fell from a hight that caused me to bleed and DIE.. i will find more and maby make a vid
1,you cnt drive some jeeps without bin a certain kit, but you can drive big votnik things without bin a certain
kit,2, you need a team in yout tank for it to be fully functional AKA shoot, drive ect,
Me (collection of several posts)
a lot of what project reality relies on is user intent. yeah, you can keep jumping BUT your stamina is gone after two jumps or so, that means no running after jumping twice. a lot of workarounds are involved in the mod and when players come to a Reality Server, they tend to WANT to play realistically... what I think this video is showing, along with new stuff in the mod, is the average type of player who plays PR
also, when throwing a grenade, it takes
about 5 seconds or so to "reload" the next one. Meaning, theres at LEAST 5 seconds between your grenades. Meaning, no nade spam. also, you dont have anywhere near as many as you had in vanilla.
I think we all would say PR isnt perfect, but some of the things you are pointing out are incorrect observations.
you arent allowed to drive APCs, Tanks, or Repair/Support type vehicles without a crewman kit(request it),you can still drive the HMMV and Vodnik which are light infantry vehicles. just cuz the vodnik is bigger than an apc(or close) doesnt make your above point valid.
no offense, i just hope you can give it another shot after knowing some of these things. and maybe PR just isnt for you
Those are called rally points, placed by each squad leader. you can only spawn on YOUR squads rally point. Theres a guide installed with PR, please read it.

Also, If you spawn on another Rally point, it will "transport" you to your home base.
hence project REALITY. More than one guy to drive and shoot a tank. besides, it makes it more rewarding knowing you owned AND played as a team. This isnt meant to make BF2 BETTER per se, its meant to make it more REALISTIC. Whether its better or not is ultimately up to each player...
him again (someone NICE on youtube!? WHA!?)
waw, tnx alot, that basicly mullered evry thing i sed, supose after reading this nice essay i can give this mod another go, and insted of trying to find faults try find the good point.. plus you din go about answering like a tard n saying, oooh you should play the mod 1st, you actualy explained tings, so tnx again

Me and a mate hid one of our team`s cobras in the hangar, becuse we knew that if that havok somehow got around us, it whoud take that parked cobra out..
A few minutes later, some random noob jumps in our squad, and ask`s.. When does the 2th cobra spawn..
.....
Need I say more...
Err, how does that make him a 'noob'?
You hid the Cobra inside the hangar, of course he's gonna ask, when it spawns/where is it, if he doesnt know, you hid it....

and why did you park it inside a hanger and not use it? doesnt that effectively do the same thing as having the havok take it out? (keep your team from using it?) im not sure i see the logic... use it or let someone else... hmmm...
after all, you had to get a pilot kit for it... why not make use if it?
