The reason I made this thread was on Jabal we had a pilot squad and we got 1 too many so I was dedicated gunner on one of the blackhawks. We were trying to help cover the ones transporting troops and at one instance I had to put probably over 2000 rounds through a support truck to kill it and probably put over 1000 through a vodnic before the guy calmly switched to the gunner and shot us down through a rain of minigun rounds right into the gunner's spot. I think the blackhawk guns are a little weak too.. But I don't know how accurate and shit it is in RL..

Never had the energy to find some info about it.. err..

Some kind of a in trouble infantry squad is taking heavy fire..

Squad leaders takes his mobile phone and tells the comamnder that he wants some cookies, and he want the cookies right in time, if possible.. some tea included..

Than the commander starts calling 911 and sends some blackhawks with cookies to throw at the enemy, the blackhawk let is rain down on the friggin enemy and the squad wich was taking fire can Run to another second brave lovely secksy blackhawk how has some tea with him for wounded comrades..

I think blackhawks should have some better role in battle with some dedicated gunners instead of only a transport poopie flying around waiting at the carrier/main base to get shot down on a hot LZ when he is needed the most because he can't return some good fire..

If you mean shoot AT at them we were on TG and they don't allow anything that is to their disadvantage including AT in the blackhawk. One of the squads were were transporting shot a Light AT out the door and we got warned.

on battlearena i am always a hat in the chopper and i will fly around, but you really need to have a good pilot and if you do you can really help your team out.

Yea and plus it gives the chopper some defense against vehicles and light armor, but the TG guys were stacked on MEC so it didn't work in our favor. Prolly woulda had both HAT kits in blackhawks if the teams were swapped.

Don't worry mate, I feel your pain and I'm sure most others do to.
Now I never played before the vBF2 patch 1.2 but I did hear that back then the BlackHawk miniguns
used to tear ppl a new one and it was patched because it just flew over the map owning all soldiers.
Anyone confirm this?
If it was true, all they really need to do is make it more like it used to be,
maybe tone it down just a little.

Nah, I reckon just make it shoot two projectiles per shot (buckshot effect), give the projectiles the deviation the gun manufacturer claims the weapons has(ie 6.5 Mil circle accuracy using the modifier: ObjectTemplate.deviation.subProjectileDev 0.1862) and take away the explosion. This will double the damage(impact), give the weapon some spread instead of laser accuracy and give it a more realistic ROF (3600 RPM (effective) vs 1800 RPM).

You need to be a DEV..... you have good ideas....

I am quite sure that those miniguns won't be changed ever (or maybe they will be nerfed).

I must agree,it needs more splash damage.

To an extent all of the choppers need splash damage so their MGs aren't useless. I've gotten people to stay down and suppress them with the china and mec chopper but never killed anyone.

By having spread and double the amount of virtual lead coming out of the barrel, you end up not needing the extra or any splash(at least in the case of the M134 miniguns). The other mounted helicopter guns (Kord and the Type 85) are both chambered in 12.7 x 108mm which is basically a longer version of the round that the .50 cal snipers rifles fire. They kill, like the .50 cal sniper rifles, in one hit.

Yea but due to the low ROF, it's hard to hit anyone when you're flying at 500 mph.....

Debatable. That was not a well controlled test.

Anyhow, I'm all for the BH getting a redo, including skin and M240s. Just don't expect it anytime soon, because realistically its not a big deal.
