My take on it is:
Yes everyone hates to get "baseraped".
IE: having your choppers, jets and other vehicles destroyed on the ground inside your main base. Yep it SUCKS!!
BUT... the commander and/or team could/should assign/have dedicated AIR FORCE squad/s.
Members of these squads are and should be responsible for protecting and repairing the airbase.
We have all seen those people who love to fly so much they will wait around the whole game just for a chance to fly doing f-all for their team.
If you fly (or play PR at all)you must/should use teamwork!
That means take turns flying and while you are waiting DEFEND AIRBASE/REPAIR AIRFIELD!!
Not rocket science is it?
Unless the server allows it(Baserape o.k.) IE:
We are at war! We will engage the enemy whenever and wherever we can ) like Texas teams server,
then the rule of thumb is:
Only the runway may be destroyed, you can land and take off next to it anyway.
Vehicles and personal are not to be engaged inside the base in till all flags are capped.
Commander assets (bunker C.P.) are fair game for a sabotage squad(in and out)with firefights only for self-defense.
It's called "giving your opponent a fighting chance" it's a game remember?
If the server allows it well then you need to DEAL WITH IT not complain! No one likes to hear it,
just go to a different server (like TG ) with players and server rules more inline with what you like.
Generally I think the runway and fixed defensive units(AA/toe) are valid targets.
NOT jets or choppers on the ground.
I also think fixed AA and toe units should have the "warm up" delay cut down to 5-10 sec. or removed altogether IMHO.
Rest assured if I'm the one pounding the **** out of your base the server allows it AND I have been ORDERED to do it.
What do you mean by "base raping"? Right or wrong?
