re: Mumble VOIP and PR (on going development)
PR worked fine for me before I installed this program but after I got some problems with it, may not be Mumble killing my PC, it could just be my PC being epic fail of doom.
This is the problem anyway. I start the game up, loads up a server and press "join" or what ever, up to this point everything works fine but as soon as I get ingame and see the kit screen my mouse and keyboard stops working. I can see the clock tick and people running around so the game is still running buy my mouse and keyboard just won't work.

Have you checked if for some reason your control configuration was cleared/changed? Had something similiar happen to me when i tried to hook up a joystick. If id change the helicopter settings, the plane settings would go back to default and vice versa. I had to make my config readonly.
Great that my idea finally got the attention it deserves. The devs should contact the mumble devs, im sure theyd like to help with getting their program to a large userbase.

It seems to me a realization the dependence of the client settings on server configuration will be correctly. Settings such as 'compression' and 'volume attenuation' (except 'headphones')

Anyhow, I still haven't got an answer, what server should I connect mumble to?

We can't all connect to the same server, that would give us very odd results. If some people were on diffrent pr servers mumble would project "ghosts" talking ingame of the people not on the same pr server as you are. What you can do is get serverowners to set up mumbleservers of their own, with an adress in the description field when joining.0celot wrote:Can someone make an offical posting of

Mumble now works with 4x4 maps! Their DEV team is awesome and have responded to our pointing of compatability issues. http://d0t.dbclan.de/dump/bf2.dll and put it in your plugins folder to get it worknig on 4x4 maps.

Wiman, did it work? This was my main problem with it.

Works pretty well, play with the settings though. On volume attenuation, set everything as low as you can and set max distance to what you need it for.

The max distance together with minimum volume at 0% now sets the volume after the max distance to absolute 0. There is however a slight problem with the audio decreasing very little in the beginning and more towards the end. So if you have the max at 20m only the last 5 will have any noticable sound decrease. But over distances of 50+ meters I think it works fine.
Also as chimpyang said, there now is a fix for the 4x4km maps that I noted earlier as a problem. It's going to be included in the next svn snapshot. Me and my clanleader (the one that has been in contact with the mumble devs most of the time) checked it on kashan, it worked fine both in mec main and us main.
I must say, big thanks to the mumble devs that has done nothing else than helped us on these issues.
Currently using these settings:
Volume: 35%
Minimum Distance: 1 meter
Bloom: 100%
Maximum Distance: 60m
Minimum Volume: 0%

Yep mumble devs are awesome! If you go into the diretory where you installed mumble, you will see a "plugin" folder, overwrite the old bf2 plugin for mumble with the new one.

Hmmm, I wonder if we ever do get a BAT file for this, if we could have mumble auto-login to servers, and have the right audio settings for everyone. Mumble definitely seems like a cool program, but why does everyone have it set max at 100m? Wouldn't something lke 50m be better?

Precisely why we've stuck to around 40 - 60 m in our clan, makes an US assault on the prison on Fallujah very very funny. "Oh no they're above us!", followed by "OH no they're below us!" from those on the other team. There has been an updated snapshot and it is well worth updating to it.

It's a new release of the client, you need to download it from
http://mumble.info/snapshot/mumble-2009-02-08-1504.exe
uninstall your old mumble saving most of hte settings files when it prompts you to, and installing this

re: Mumble VOIP and PR (on going development)
They fixed both our main problems in one day
1. Player volume never hitting 0
2. 3D audio for 4km maps fixed
I have one problem though, they got rid of the roll-off slider. Big mistake, because now there is no smooth volume transition

Re: Mumble (VOIP) and the on going development
Will there be an official sticky post on the download info, settings, config, etc. once everything is sorted out and deemed "workable?"

you know whats funny, in a matter of days this has gone from being nearly absolutely unknown to practically everyone having it, and as Scot said yesterday: "It sucks when no one has it on the right settings". I couldn't agree more.
