Can anyone teach me the art of searching? :-(

I did search, probably the date has something to do about it :? ??:

It says NAVY, not Marines or US army, and we don't have NAVY in PR.

And it says Seals, and we dont have special forces in PR.

On the other hand, some more robust river boats, more diverse then this vBF2 we have now, wouldnt hurt :)

Since the start of the original thread, the RN have started using the new(ish) ORC gunboat for the pongo lot.

A large-scale naval battle would be interesting... Of course it would require vast amount of new assets as well as a new game mode, larger maps (full-water maps similar to the Wake Island redux version on Combined Arms made it possible for 8KM maps iirc), LOTS of time. The only issue would be possibly be replayability, creating realistic scenarios, and some other things that I cannot think of. This would be for another topic possibly?

As for light ships and the likes, I don't feel like they would be useful in the current PR. I know the Norwegian Faction has the CB90N in development at the moment, but I think that isn't classified as a "missile boat" or "light ship" or whatever. It would be nice to see an updated RHIB or a replacement for it.

honestly a full out naval battle is unrealistic simply by the the fact that PR is based in the modern world. the last real chance for actual naval warfare was WW2, after that there's really no more chance for naval warfare that isnt just guided missiles coming out of nowhere.

i do support the idea of making some better patrol boats and LCVP type crafts for maps like barracuda

I agree that full scale naval battles is a step too far. The naval role for PR should be support for land based activities and nothing more.

Of course, the odd gunboat vs gunboat skirmish is always welcome!

Actually, yes you do, as you have the USS Essex, and Navy Hospital Corpsmen serve as the combat medical technicians in US Marine units.

Now I am not talking about putting in submarines and destroyers, BF2 :P R is way to small for that. What I think should be looked into is the chance of having missile boats on some water maps, or which could open up the possibility of having new water maps.

These are examples of "small" missile boats used by the Chinese, Finnish and German Navy.

Old Russian missile boat, maybe for militia forces:

A new boat for insurgents/militia would also be nice, as it would give the game a little more unique feeling.

Now the deciding part is of course done by the DEV team, which boats to use and not use and so on, what I want to be discussed is the chance of having more naval combat in PR.

You brought back a thread to discuss something that we had 8 pages of discussion on and you didn't bring anything new to the table?
