A heads up!

It looks as the server move and IP changes has been postponed to next week, 17 - 21 of August. This is due to vacation and short off staff.

Anyway, as I said before, when the date is set I will let you know.

Regards,
Magrioteli and the Skyttegrav.se team

ALL OUR SERVERS ARE DOWN!

EDIT: Due to certain circumstances the servers were shut down yesterday (19th).
However we do see the light in the end of the tunnel now, and we hope we will be up and running soon.

I can not say when, but I will keep you informed.

Yours,
Magrioteli

Hey, good server you running there.

Just one thing: My ping is jumping from times to times (not the server fault) and youre server has high-ping enabled. If I have a ping of 251 for a sec Im getting kicked ... it would be really cool if you could increase the limit to 300 of 350, or disable it completely since its pretty much useless.

Regards,

Red

Hi, and thanks for playing with us.

Concerning the ping limit we have increased it from 200 ms to 250, just some month ago. I may sound rude when I tell you that we are going to stay there.
Pinging over 250 ms from Germany to southern Sweden sounds very high to me (I ping some 40-60 ms on German servers). So maybe there was something fishy with the connection tonight (if you were in on Saturday).
The server is located close to Göteborg, and there is a huge node/junction point from Sweden over to Denmark and down over northern Europe.
Please try to ping 95.130.64.229 from your commando prompt and see what you get.

If you have a decent connection, you should be able to stay with us.
I hope you will reconnect!

Cheers,
Magrioteli

Hey Magrio.

Its not problem with your server specially and my connection. Its just a fact that I have the shittest connection ever (UMTS wireless-shit-thing) , I even get ping of 300 on german-server if Im playing at normal EU-Times (However at about 1 o'clock my ping gets down to about 100)

Well, Sad to hear the limit will stay. Is there any specific reason for that?

BTW: Ping says 150 atm, but in about 2 hours it will be 300 and above, will not go down before like midnight or even later.

Regards

Red

RedWater, this might sound cynical, and the no ping limit debate has been on for a while.
The main reason that we have 250 in ping limit (which the community sees as fair) is that we want players near us to have a good server to play on.
Dropping the ping limit to "happy hours" will maybe do that we will have some "high pingers" in at Skyttegrav.se from wherever they come from, but that will force the Scandinavian/Europe players to seek other servers if our server is full. With that in mind, the problem is moved and they will end up on some > 150 ms server.
Do not get me wrong, we do not lock any doors; however as long there isn’t any decree from the PR-team, we will keep the limit.

I am sorry for your troubles and that your connection isn’t kept in limit.

Regards,
Magrioteli

To be honest we have no specific PR rules made yet. A bit embarrassing. However I am working on them and I will try to get them up a.s.a.p.

Meantime one can say that our BF-rules Skyttegrav.se • View topic - Regler för Battlefield are the one to obey and the more specific things in PR are that one not attack flags in AAS that shall not be attacked.
The most important aren't how the game should be played - it is how people behaves.
Our short rules are: Play hard, play fair and be polite.
Forums & Rules: Skyttegrav.se • Portal

I will get back to this as soon the PR rules are done and meantime if you have a question, please ask us.

Cheers,
Magrioteli

Which is exactly the opposite of the experience I have had with your server.

Okay. Let me see if I understand you. So you mean that players don't gives a rat's a** about teamplay, that they play unfair and that - on top of that - that players are impolite?
The server is only as good as its players on it are.
It is like a deja-vu saying this, however we servers admins can't not be online always and we can't - when we are - scrutinize every single player's behaviour, skill and team spirit.

I make no secret of that teams works sux from time to time, and players are behaving badly and that admins doesn't see what is going on, and we make wrong decisions.
Nevertheless, we are aiming for a good time and I am sorry to hear that you don't experience that.

Join our forums and tell us more about what you think could be done better.

Skyttegrav is one of my favourite servers.
  • Well populated
  • Decent maps
  • Fair admins
  • Good Ping
  • No issues
Perfect for western european gamers.

Skyttegrav.se & Lost Platoon in symbiosis

by Magrioteli
The gaming community Skyttegrav.se and the BF 2 Project Reality clan, Lost Platoon has initiated a cooperation concerning the Project Reality server, Skyttegrav.se #1 PR 0.874

In short that means that Lost Platoon is administrating the server, and there are some seven Lost Platoon members that will have admin access on the server. Skyttegrav.se is still the owner of the server and the server’s name will remain (maybe with some changes of the server name)
Lost Platoon will decide which maps and which game modes that the server will host. (All in agreement to the server licence that Skyttegrav.se has with the PR-team).

That Lost Platoon has chosen to work together with us at Skyttegrav.se is very positive.
Lost Platoon is active in the Project Reality Tournament and they know a lot about the game.
Our main contact person from Lost Platoon is [twl]Lan

Skyttegrav.se’s Battlefield section has lately struggled with admin bail-outs and that has drained our admin crew quite a lot, with a negative impact on our Project Reality servers. (Read: too few players).
This late Friday (16th of Oct.) evening members from Lost Platoon (among others) joined an empty Skyttegrav.se #1, and in a jiffy the server was full. Our other server, Skyttegrav.se #4 was also packed and it was a great feeling to have two 64 slots Project Reality servers up running.

We at Skyttegrav.se’s Battlefield section are proud to announce this cooperation, and we welcome Lost Platoon to us.
