PARAMEDIC, I'm quite jealous of your most
excellent tree placement.
Really you've created a very believable look

Probably cause MARPAT is a derivative of CADPAT.

tyvm, but I must admit, I learned much from other desert mappers efforts (you, Rank, and duck) and used many of these techniques in aggregate for this update. In doing so, I believe we collectively "raise the bar" for ourselves for each and every each release

So, in other words we are collectively learning or some call it appreciative learning and applying..
The significance of using foliage like this is two-fold. First being the need of being in-sync to the actual environment (low lying/deep rooted trees),; secondly, the trees sunken in are a great way to mask the nasty "bf2 terrain warping" on sharp hills. Both have worked out positively.

Previous Archer was empty, unbalanced map - but I hope this one will be much better. From the screens I can say that the undergrowth looks great! I also like the idea of placing more villages - which are perfect for guerilla operations.

The more I think about it, the more I am excited to see that mountain fortress be used for some sniping overlooks and CQB madness. Should be fun times, especially with all the new cover around the mosque.
More buildings on the main roads please!

The use of the fortress was (is a) tough decision to make. The fortress will not be a pristine museum artifact that is found in Muttrah, but rather a rubble ridden, weather torn remnant of a past fortress. Be patient, it will be cool

. That being said, sniping from up there will be challenging even for the most polished marksman. Moreover, the strategic benefit of holding this area will questionable (unless there is a cache up there).

Clever, rather than try and eliminate terrain warping issues, you simply worked together with them and used them as opportunities to place vegetation. I have great expectations for this map.
Judging from the new setup of the village, I think it will lag a lot less and that it will feel more like afghanistan ; Farms, house, trees, farms /river\mountain. This + large cave networks will make it a great place to fight either as Taliban or NATO. This, and Taliban defending fortress vs NATO is full of win!

I remember playing the early open beta, when it wasn't an official map.

Paramedic,
Can anything be done about the strateigic logic of the US's main base? It seems to be at the bottom of a valley, where it is easy for insurgents to sneak up on and pound everything/one inside with RPGs, UGL and sniper fire.
Obviously, moving the main is quite a hard task, so could a few things be added to aid the defense? Perhaps a HESCO guard tower with a couple of M249, facing north-wards?
In recent matches, I have seen the US abandon their own main base, as spawning was the quickets way to respawning, as the insurgents raped all assets and personnel.
...mongol...
