I've said it before and I'll say it again, shotgun is for running into buildings CoD style to single handedly decimate an enemy squad.
I've been on the receiving end and I've been on the giving end, no other gun can compare.
..It is incredibly unrealistic.

I got 6 kills in a row with it on Muttrah, its pretty effective in the apartments and the Mosque

Done both, but I don't use it much, as I primarily play as the Officer class.

In .85 or something I managed to clear out a whole american squad with the shotgun insurgent kit to my big surprise. It was actually much more effective than I thought.

I love the shotgun.
It can clean up in CQB for reaction shots and gives a good advantage since a killshot is instant, not the 2-3 rounds usually required by an automatic weapon. You can't miss though. it's really fun to use outdoors too and requires tactics. It's also good at supressing.
