When the PR version of mumble has its bugs worked out, it will be MUCH higher profile than currently...

We will probably make it so it will bevisible each time you start PR...

There is still some things in mumble that makes it cumbersome and difficult to admin... but already twisted helix has made some major progress it seems...

When did this thread turn from coordinating with multiple squads to a mumble vs teamspeak debate?? :(

I would love to see more multi-squads (platoons) coordinating in PR as I think its waaay more intense/fun/realistic than lone squads trying to complete objectives on their own, biting off way more than they can chew.

How often do you see a squad in position to assualt, and then HOLDING POSITION, waiting for another squad to back them up before they move in? Very very rarely, and that is sad. I think having a more platoon based mindset would go a long way to shaping PR gameplay for the better in future versions...

all future threads of increasing teamwork will end in mumble IMO, as mumble is the only advancement that can happen as i feel devs have done as much as they can with the mod, and the VoIP system cant be change ... so.

Well there will be anti-Mumblers as long as the PR Mumble settings aren't hardcoded and people sit in other team's channels spying on them.

If even they cut out BF2 Voip and implement mumble instead you will get people using teamspeak and not mumble. (Especially clans)

You can just end the discussion about removing Bf2 VOIP for PR... not going to happen, thats a server side option that will remain as such...

Will the potential next PR (if there ever is one) incorporate the good elements of mumble? absolutely, its the future of voice comms.... very high quality, little or no latency, positional voice, cant go back to what was before....

Wish people would not always be so negative in these forums..

Well im really looking forward to being a platoon commander, and ordering suppressive fire, telling a squad to move from my right to my left behind me, and ordering in Grenadier fire. Calling in APC support...

AH lovely *heart*

The best way is of course mumble, and that is why i hope to see the devs implement a system that more easierly can incorporate platoons, instead of just squad to squad communication... If you all get my point..

As i said, when in a squad, you are not an entity with an objective, you are a smaller part of a larger entity. Its all about mindset, and of course accsesiblity, if its really hard to make a platoon... Then people dont do it, if everything is setup for a quick platoon... TADA!

The DEVs should do something about this. A built in mumble or something like that needs to be in the next patch, or even in a mini patch. in real life squads do not run the battlefield, platoons and companies do. i think that some form of squad to squad communication (NOT TEXT) needs to be implemented. and for those of you who say not to push the DEVs and they got enough as it is and they have priorities, this is a priority, they need to work on this and they have committed themselves to this, so asking them for this is not asking too much of them.

I have always wished people would work better with squad coordination. When it comes to PR nobody else has better teamwork but when it comes to squad coordination. Most servers are really lacking in that department.

I usually like to play mostly Insurgency and from the beginning to the end you got squads all over the map trying to take caches by themselves. Most of the time they can probally do it after a couple of squad respawns but it would go a lot smoother with joint efforts.

This coordination needs to be in place not just for infantry squads but also APC squads with Infantry. The IFV's require infantry support to spot mines and IED's. Also protect against RPG ambushes. The infantry squads would severly benefit from IFV support.

However with all the infantry going out there own buisness, APC squads are left doing there own thing. Waiting to ferry squads to there destinations and often left alone to defend themselves. Most cases if the APC squad is good they can defend themselves but IMO it's such a waste of a asset if all it does is ferry squads from the base to the entrance of a hot spot.

There is so much uses for the IFV's that only can be done if tagged along by a infantry squad or a couple. Like done in real combat.

Yeah, its kinda weird actually, in servers with noone on Mumble, you see a blue guy with a medic kit, he walks straight past you, but on mumble its so touching..

*Scene* Im down, shouting for medic.

Me: "Medic!!! I need a medic!"

Mumble dude: " keep shouting ill get to you"

Me: "medic over here!"

Mumble dude: "aaah there we go, i got you dont worry"

Makes me feel so taken care off and... and... :'( OMG

but thats seriously how it works...

I'm the same. I played on Aussie servers quite a bit untill I found some foreign servers that were a lot more tactical and slightly more seriously team play orientated. But recently the Aussie server I play on has mostly 1/2 or more of the server using mumble. Local servers don't have as much team play as I'd personally like. But even mumble has made tactical play more evident, especially being able to co-ordinate shit with other squads.

I can't play on servers that don't use mumble anymore. It adds such a large amount of depth to the experience, it's really good to see you devs embracing mumble so quickly.

I must say the amount of praise in this thread just convinced me to give it a try.
Is there any guide for PRers who want to start using it?

I know i got lost when i set up my Mumble, you miss one part of that walkthrough and your like "huh?"

Fortunatley the great rudd helped me, although he was pretty stressed :P

Anywho, when the mumble fix is released so we all can just install mumble and play PR with mumble, then thats going to be a whole other party.

BTW, are you going to use that ingame thingy, that makes you see who is talking, cause i heard that PB kicks you for that, but ive never tried it.
