Re: DEBATE: What do you think about 12 year olds playing PR?
I don't really have a problem with age, just as long as the person isnt a spaz. However the line must be drawn somewhere, for example my like 9 year old cousin kept talking about how awesome it was that you could kill civilians on the airport level in MW2 during my familys christmas celebration. Even though he is a moron, (He was trying to get his parents to let him buy it, and then he brings up killing innocent people :roll
I find it kind of disturbing.

Kids voices ruins immersion for me. It's like "take your kid to work day" except I doubt that kids goes to iraq to see what their daddies and mommies are doing...
I often find younger players to be impatient and self centered. Im sure however that there are exeptions.

Re: DEBATE: What do you think about 12 year olds playing PR?
I am sure there are 12 year olds out there who make good teammates.
I just haven't met one yet.
The ones I have met always have the high pitched voice, but thats ok, i could deal with that, if they ever shut up. All the ones i met just KEEP TALKING ALL THE BLOODY TIME.
The ones I have met always want all the good kits, meaning HATS and Snipers and Grenadier, regardless of the situation. This wouldn't even bother me that much if they at least asked, but no, they just grab it. Here we are cowering in a bunker while a tank is taking potshots at us, and he grabs a sniper kit.
I could deal with this if they were actually effective with their kits, but I just don't see it.
Lastly, I could take all this if they were willing to learn, but in fact they are usually arrogant enough to ignore whatever I tell em and then storm off in a fury of insults when the squad gets mad at em.
So yeah, maybe there are 12 year olds that can make good teammates, but I haven't met one yet.

I mostly go by the attitude, although 12 and 13 year olds are mostly a little too young I have no problem with 14+ not to mention that I really don't care as I am not 18 either..

Re: DEBATE: What do you think about 12 year olds playing PR?
I had a boy that professed to be 12 earlier today on =]H[= and I can, without a shadow of a doubt, say that he was the most annoying person in the game. I dunno, from personal experience they tend to be the ones that want to be 1337 SN1PZ0RZZ [Irony of my Avatar duly noted] and not know much about the game. I mean, how many 12 year olds will read a manual prior to playing a mod for his new favourite game of the bloody minute. FE; This lad I was with today, Couldn't provide a grid to save himself. Don't want to write his name partially because I can't remember it and partially because I don't want to remember it.
*VOIP Conversation* (I was the commander)
=UKA= JakCurse: Provide an accurate grid reference for the LB please.
-Censored-: Why would i do that man, DROP THE BOMB ON THEM!
=UKA= JakCurse: I Can't "Drop the bomb" Until you give me an accurate grid reference.
-Censored-: Okokokok. By the big pointy thing. Right there. THERE'S LOADS DROP THE BOMB NOW.
=UKA= JakCurse: Sorry, but how fucking old are you?
-Censored-: 12, what the fuck does it matter to you? DROP THE BOMB!
etc, etc, etc. I don't mind the age of my squad members, as long as they are competent and follow instruction. Likewise, I don't want my SL being a smacktard.

Re: DEBATE: What do you think about 12 year olds playing PR?
I hate those retarded kids who join the game and know NOTHING about how to play. But this happens with people 16+ too. One time some guy was spamming the voice chat asking how to do about everything... even the basic stuff. I admit that when I started playing at age 12, I didn't know the the keypad grid system, but the moment my squadmates yelled at me for that, I reread the manual and looked up the system online.....
I played MW2 and the Civilian level didn't do anything for me. I even thought it was a bit fun. Honestly, if a kid isn't exposed to real life, then they're gonna remain a kid forever. But that stereotypical high-pitched voice does annoy me. In that case, I usually leave the squad unless the kid's actually a good player.

today i had really experance with a younger player could have been 13ish or younger, full server on hardcore, he had the usual questions like how do i find which keypad is which and what is this lil thing i got now (was an IED), you just have to put up with them because they will soon become welcome member of the community just give them some time to learn

Ha, I positively encourage free thinking and new approaches. Me and Colours got nothing in common! 12 year olds are fine in my presence mate. I have kids that age (and that plays vanilla BF2!.) And I think my worth and status as a teacher (unqualified volunteer right now, on the path though!) has proved plenty of people are willing to listen to me and benefit from the experience![R-COM]Scot wrote:Therein lies the problem, that your Colour Sergeant and MrD could have been one in the same, and 12 year olds shouldn't be spending time with such people, or listening to what they have to say.

Re: DEBATE: What do you think about 12 year olds playing PR?
Personally, I normally have no patience for anyone that is less than the age of 14 in game or out of game. I have tutored minors and to me it was almost worse than death. The amount of immaturity that they had drove me insane and I constantly had to maintain an authority figure which to them probably meant nothing. In PR, I have met a few minors that have irritated me to the point of leaving the round.
However, there are a small few out there that are minors yet their maturity far exceeds their age. These people I do not mind at all and honestly have my respect. Overall, it's not the age, but the maturity that really matters, though the topic title makes it sound very stereotypical.

Its so hard to not laugh sometimes when they come to your squad and they say HELLO! so high after you have been playing for 2 hours with "adults" players

Knowing I was playing BF1942 when I was 12 I don't have a problem with it. Some if not the majority of such young players are so exposed to video games at this age it doesn't really cause that big of a problem. It's the ones who do cause trouble that you remember.

on the subject of bannage due to anoying voice that would be a tad bit unfair on me, though thats no fault of my own, i don't really talk like i have goin my head on the outside of an airliner. and if you think about it it adds to the immersion (so long as you are along way away or in a helicopter with me)

If the other games do not appeal to them, then yes why not. However if they want to play PR like it is DOOM 3 or COD then no thanks.

I have taken note of everyone who has admitted to playing with 12 year olds and will be passing their names on to the appropriate authorities.
