I'd like to see the Vietnamese team have Punji's as a deployable asset. You could have fun placing the trip lines then watching as your teammates foolishly forget to check their map.

End thread. That is all lol.

Aslong as I get a Browning Hi-Powered, Colt 1911, M60, Mossberg pumpaction and an L1A1 I don't care what else is in it

Well actually, you can't quote me on this and will need to ask an MA, but the Montagnard were an unit trained by US to search for signs of VC activity back to the Americans, and were trained by U.S. Special Forces. They used US submachine guns and...

A traditional Vietnamese crossbow, was said to be deadly in close range counter-guerrilla warfare. But since I know we will not create a new faction just for crossbows, I suppose I will get topical.

Never mind, found the photo I was looking for. American with a flaming arrow.

Not to kill people outright, but to burn Viet Cong positions from a boat instead of landing troops. But you’re not getting that either, so... back to topical...

No cool picture, but I am fairly Confident that the VC used unexploded US munetion (like claymores and arty shells) to make traps, I was think this could be used to add a variety to traps for the North Vietimese. An mortar and Arty kit could be pick up kits, hidden in the dence jungle. sorry for spelling and if i resugested/restated somthing/miss informed in my post.

seriously, in vietnam the m14 had replaced the garand/m1a1 carbine allmost completely and the carbine with the bigger mag and selective fire was the M2 carbine, which was only produced in small numbers and primary used in korea (despite saying that its been one of the weakest assaultrifles ever made (or a very early, chunky PDW :-P )
Yes but they had not been replaced in the ARVN army. They used many surplus American weapons and equipment form the second world war.

m2 carbine could be used in limited numbers for the early ARVN, or for a special forces instructor class (ARVN officerclass? :p ) I saw a pic of ARVN who held on to their m2's 'till 1968

But frankly I think this is a matter for later, when an ARVN army is actually released.

Deuce n halves used as gun trucks, and the M48 patton, M41 walker bulldog, M47 patton, M551 Sherriden, these tanks never get to see the light of day in many games and they all were around for nam.

Man you should start a thread to do with the vehicles, that might be a more appropriate place. But good suggestions anyway man.

I would just like to suggest the Stoner 63 series in case it hasn't been mentioned. Yet it was only used by the SEALs and on a limited basis by Army SOF. So it probably wouldn't fit, but I would like to see a game or mod do a rather interesting weapon series justice.

During much of the war the ARVN had all sorts of old WWII era weapons that would be a neat change of pace. M1 Garands, M1/M2 carbines, M1A1 Thompsons, etc.

Also if there are any night maps a M16A1 with one of those first generation starlight scopes would be cool.

m79 w/ flechette rounds. basically shooting hundreds of anti coagulant coated razor sharp darts. it caused profuse bleeding unless treated immediately. it could be like different ammo for the m79, for example.

M79
high explosive

M79
flechette

Does anyone know if they used M79 with smoke rounds to mark targets for CAS? That could be effective.

I would like to see no spec ops or other exotic weapons. and guess what? I've got a feeling I won't be dissapointed ;)

genuinely on-topic though: arisaka(w/ bayonet) for VC.
