I think in an event like that, an injured player should have more than just 5 minutes.

I think we should wait with this until the next release comes out, with 128 players I hope. And also there is still server needed for this event. It would be good if someone could provide it.

This would be only possible in an AAS map, INS wouldnt work.
Imagine how unfair it would be for the insurgents to be not able to spawn without limit? It would say that each insurgent life is the same as blufor lifes, but this couldnt work because of weapons, armour, cars and so on.
So please, if this event is going to start, do a fair AAS map.

how would someone be able to enjoy the outcome of his efforts or team when he gets banned ? Kinda sounds anti climax, better to do the map with just extremely low amount of tickets representing one life = 3 tickets and the dead guys arent allowed to move out of base as they are in bodybag/hospitalized ( you can check in scoreboard if they have one death to punish them if they do go out of base

this way the dead still can see all the action from their base and chat n stuff

I would sit in base until you all kill each other, then would go to kill remaining enemies :D :D

Hopefully not. Stupid idea imvho.

You cannot have a multi-player "single life" MP game with 32 people per side and PR's style of gameplay, it works in Mount & Blade (only other game I can think of with comparable player numbers) because the maps are very small and combat is at very close ranges. Similarly it works in CoD because the maps are so small and the player count is fairly low.

In PR, as others have said, it would be lengthy, boring hide and seek.

I thing you don't get the whole idea. It's not going to be like cs - you go down and you wait for the rest of the round. If you die, the next players takes your spot, so the server will be full of alive soldiers at all the time.

Okay so I join the server, after five minutes get shot, then leave and carry on with my day?

Yeah that sounds really awesome.

In what way is that different from normal play, other than a new player coming in instead of the original player re-spawning. Re-spawning is only a game mechanic for simulating new personnel arriving at w/e battlefield so whether those personnel are new players or re-spawning players makes not the tiniest bit of difference.

In a way that you will try not to die at all cost, since u want to play more than for 5 minutes =)
Choppers wont go crashing in hot zones
Players wont be rushing CS style
Every casualty will be taken care of
No vanilla tactics and stuff
Long firefights ,suppressive fire, since u dont want to get shot and kicked from server
And many other things i dream of =)
Thats how i see it. Doesnt it sound like fun?

[R-DEV]Sniperdog wrote:For those of you who don't know why i said ban players I'm not actually referring to banning that player specifically, but rather blocking them from coming in using a script. This is the basic idea:

The server (not an admin) will by default only allow players who have zero deaths to connect. It will constantly search for players who are dead and have not connected in the last x minutes and kick them.
I have another opinion, believing it to be more correct from a programming perspective. Just given the fact that the players will be a lot, checking all the players will can make a heavy load on the event server because bf2/python can create large memory leaks,

Using program events in Python, you can check the number of deaths just been connected players, as well as to catch the moment when the player died and pressed give up button - and then kick it :)
Kick once when you connect you can do by only Battlefield 2 built-in methods, PunkBuster does not work.

Actually, I'm on my old vbf2 server implemented the script to restrict access by black and white lists, the lists stored in MySQL database. Only registered players may join this server, or play only 15 minutes after their first spawn, then you need to register.. This script uses same construction with events and access restriction.

I'm interested in undertaking one life, although the implementation in the form of kick involves a considerable army of wanting to play :)

I'd be totally fine with 1 life. If I die in the first 5 min then I probably deserved it. :-) Shorter rounds might help the server perhaps. There would probably be problems with squads though as they could easily get mixed with new players or if the SL dies. And aren't real life battles also more like hide-and-seek with a lot of camping and moving only if it's safe? (maybe it's not, just asking)

*Spawns in*

*Dies 3 seconds after with a mortar*

*Logs off*

Totally worth it.
