The PR community has the skills and knowledge to do this, it's just a matter of people willing to spend some time on it.Tirak wrote:Not really. Remember the Falklands mod? IRA mod? JSDF? Mexicans (oh wait... nah them too), Taiwan? All faction and mod proposals, all had quite a bit of support, none of them made it. As cool as a WWII mod would be, it's too late and unsupported. Of course you could always try, and if it works lord it over everyone who doubted you. You'd be the Mosquill of the community modding scene.

Thats just it, the people with the skills and know-how are already developing projects which have a defined goal. It is selfish and unrealistic for them to endure further workload working on a spin-off like this.NautaFIN wrote:The PR community has the skills and knowledge to do this, it's just a matter of people willing to spend some time on it.
For this to be successful (IE, to be released whilst there is still interest in the vBF2 engine) there will need to be even more people on board than the current mod. This is asking for texture artists, modelers, coders and mapmakers in addition to the usual management personnel, and they will have to work doubletime in order to get this to a workable stage where the public will actually want to play it.
Its just not prudent, regardless of how much public interest there is.

If you see how PR:V is working with EoD, then possibly this would work best if done by working with the XWW2 Mod team, seeing as they have already put out an excellent WW2 mod.

I'm sure this has been said... like a million times.

PR and EOD is not really the same. Trahn Lee was the last EOD dev and decided to "donate" the EOD assets to PR, so a PR:Vietnam could be born. Trahn Lee was already a PR dev as well, so all in all it's an in-house thing.D33PS1X wrote:If you see how PR:V is working with EoD, then possibly this would work best if done by working with the XWW2 Mod team, seeing as they have already put out an excellent WW2 mod.
I don't know if XWW2 is interested in such a thing. Keep in mind the whole WW2-thing is a community-project.
Sure, but you need the people to do it as well.Bluedrake42 wrote:I'm sure this has been said... like a million times.

Btw, BGF maps cannot be used, except for all maps created by Takiwa and Panzaman (Meka-howeveryouspellit-Gory, The Way East, Operation Citadel, etc.).

PR isn't working with EoD to make PR:V. Gunnie (aka TrahnLee) is an FH2 dev, a PR dev, a USI dev, and the sole remaining dev of EoD. So he is incorporating PR gameplay into EoD to prolong its life.D33PS1X wrote:If you see how PR:V is working with EoD, then possibly this would work best if done by working with the XWW2 Mod team, seeing as they have already put out an excellent WW2 mod.
Working with another mod team to put together PR:WWII would require a whole different type of relationship all together.
EDIT: Afterdune beat me to it.

Re: Community made PR WW2
I would not say better. Usually the point of ww2-themed stuff is that most of the ppl will have bolt-action rifles and smg's are a rarity and MG is something to be feared and the gameplay and the firefights are just slightly less hectic than in MW-type game. And some ppl are just nuts about Band of Brothers and Shaving Ryans Private stuff.GoreZiad wrote:would be even better with just a few more ww2 weapons in pr instead.
I would bet that there is a lot of demand for this kind of PR-type WW2-themed mod among realism units.
A lot of realism units are looking for just an environment like this to act out their "realism" stuff but atm there isnt a that many mods/games about ww2 where you can have PR scale, large open and detailed maps and 3D voice chat, afaik.
Darkest Hour/RO maps are a bit smaller and the mod/game lacks 3D voice,
YouTube - 29th Infantry Division - Close Order Rifle Drill
RnL maps are really small but it has 3D voice
YouTube - 6th Airborne Division Resistance and Liberation
FH2 i guess is just a tad too arcadish for most realism units, idk about ww2online though, Invasion 1944 might become a success but it is still not that ready and not a lot of ppl have ArmA2
YouTube - ARMA 2 Invasion 1944 - Paras (CO)
RO2 might be the next big thing for ww2 realism units, although it does not have 3D voice chat which is a shame.
I myself am not that enthusiastic about joining a realism unit atm but i do appreciate their contributions for keeping rare ww2 mods alive.

Call it ominous but failing the first promise of this 'mod' isn't a good sign.

Non constructive comments like that does not motivate anyone to do any work or join the effort, and servers no purpose being posted in this sub forum imo.

I have seen like 10 of your posts EVERY single one is NEGATIVE!!!dtacs wrote:Call it ominous but failing the first promise of this 'mod' isn't a good sign.
Lighten up, if the man wants to make this mod and others want to help, and you want to just post negative comments do it elsewhere.

I want them to realize that their work and talent could very well be spent elsewhere, making the current mod or PRV/PRA significantly more perfected. Imagine more people working on PRA than there currently is: it would not only be better looking, but there would be much more attention to detail.James May wrote:I have seen like 10 of your posts EVERY single one is NEGATIVE!!!

Want to prove me wrong? Have this 'mod' meet its deadlines and live up to its promises. Saying things and then not having them materialize is going to do more damage to community interest than my comments.

That's.. I know what you mean, but it's not really a valid argument. PR:V is being developed in-house and PR:A is a totally different engine. Of course, members from the community can join the PR team if they have something nice to share/add.dtacs wrote:I want them to realize that their work and talent could very well be spent elsewhere, making the current mod or PRV/PRA significantly more perfected. In the end it's all up to the individual.
I think I can agree with this. Prove people wrong and get to workdtacs wrote:Want to prove me wrong? Have this 'mod' meet its deadlines and live up to its promises.

Of course, M1 Garand's were used in limited numbers in Vietnam, no? Modelers interested in this WW2 idea could kill 2 birds with one stone and try that, or a better detailed PPSh, Mosin, etc.Of course, members from the community can join the PR team if they have something nice to share/add.

Re: Community made PR WW2
Yep, they were used by the ARVN and what not. The M1 Garand is already in EOD btw

I haven't looked at the model, but from this screenshot it looks pretty good. And no, it's not the same one as in FH2.
Whoever is the mod-lead on this, there have been a couple of guys that could help out. You should probably get a list of names and output a todo-list and such.
I was thinking, if you do wish to do something with the western front, you may be able to use some of EOD's soldiers. Some could be used for that. Give them an M1 Garand and a beach.......
There may even be Thompsons and whatever else in EOD, I don't know from the top of my head.
Still, whatever front, you'll need a K98 for the Germans.
But first things first, you have to think about what you really want with this mod.
