Have you set the BR quality to very high?Bluedrake42 wrote:No I know the crashing is normal, we were having other weird issues however. Like accounts locking us out, Battle-recorder filling up the harddrive and lagging the server, among other things. Hopefully all issues that will be fixed with a higher drive allocation.

Re: Free Candy Van
It's just a result of cached data that fills up the temp space. We made the VPS to only 10GB and expected to fit three servers on it, big mistake.. Just remade it but with ~70gb of manageable space which guarantees it being futureproof. Currently transferring files. Another issue as to why we've had a lot of downtimes is because we kept running the server on an unmounted hard drive that didn't have a lot of swap space.Thenis wrote:Have you set the BR quality to very high?

Okay server is back up, upgraded memory along with upgraded drive space. We're also taking advantage of the new VM's power to host a parallel COOP server that we can use for both streaming, training, and a general place for new players to learn the game. Sorry for all the recent downtime, and hopefully this will be the last stretch of downtime for a while (HOPEFULLY... oh god truly)
We appreciate your patience, and we look forward to getting back into the game with everyone. Especially now that RHINO IS MAKING A VERSION OF PR2142 YOU HEARD IT HERE FIRST PEOPLE ITS HAPPENING BLUEDRAKE IS LEAKING EVERYTHING I mean yeah alright see you in game.

I got banned for excessive team killing without team killing anyone. Reported by the guy who TK'd me at the start of the round (deliberately, didn't think to report him), who thought I was trying to kill him. I don't think the admins checked anything they just kind of took this guy's word for it.

Your ping to a server has to do with the distance between you and it. If you move closer to it your ping will decrease, if you move further away from it it will increase. A stable server and connection from your part will make sure your ping also stays stable, but it won't decrease it - not by much anyways.Gazza Sparkle wrote:FCV has around 200 - 300 ping for me which is the best i can get is there anything you guys can do to lower that?

Okay this is also an issue for me,
I get 400+ ping to your server, whereas i should be getting like 250-260. I get 170 to based, 250 to hog, 250 to HC, 400+ to FCV.
Can i get an IP to tracert please? I'm pretty sure there's something messed up in the routing.
I used to get lower ping, not sure what has changed, ddos protection?

Maybe I am looking over it, but does your server has Battle recorder enabled? if so, where can I find these files?
Thanks,

It doesn't currently, but should soon. I'll post the link here when its available. The battlerecorder archives were what was giving us trouble earlier.

Hi guys!
Ok so last night we were playing on your server and I got kicked for teamkilling. Um, I was flying the huey back and forth running supply runs on Ia Drang and I clearly recall not TKing anyone but GTX while taking off because PR physics are fun and he just hopped out and ended up INSIDE my skids or some shit. And that was like 30 minutes before my kick.
Now, I came back and asked like 5 times who kicked me and why - since I didnt tk anyone, even GTX was cool with it - and no one had the decency to tell me or even apologize if it was a mistake. I'm not asking for much here, just, if you fuck up, apologize and we'll move on. Just randomly kicking players makes you look like a poorly managed server where you can admin the way you like and just fuck around with players and get away with it.
PS: When the same team gets steamrolled 5 rounds in a row, its a strong sign we should scramble them. It has been like that for 2 days in a row - we were stuck on the same team just getting fucked up. Please scramble, this will make things a little better.

We have been having technical difficulties with our logs as of late, so i am unable to investigate furrther. But, to all people that come to this thread to talk; please note at Bluedrake42 ? =DRK= Community we have a report section for this, other than that, always keep the feedback coming.Gen.Aladeen002 wrote:Hi guys!

Re: Free Candy Van
We are having issues with server latency and rubber banding. This is not due to the same problems that were plaguing us before, this is due to an issue with our provider (OVH) and an increased number of DDoS attacks.
I know we've been getting a lot of complaints about server stability, however it's coming to a point where this is the limit to how much we can improve the server. Project Reality is an archaic game... and honestly I'm impressed every day that it has come as far as it has. However with that said, there are parts of this game that are never going to improve. Server stability issues likely being one of them.
Now we could POSSIBLY move to a new more expensive provider, and purchase higher grade DDoS protection services. However this would not only take a lot of work, but also a great deal of money (and consistent long term money at that) to not just pay for the servers themselves, but to hire the personnel to maintain them (and keep them from being destroyed like what happened in January.) Additionally... even finding individuals to hire who specialize in Project Reality's archaic server software is becoming more and more difficult.
With this said... the amount of players playing Project Reality is slowly decreasing, and on top of that the amount of players contributing money to pay for these servers is also decreasing. The money that our community does generate comes almost exclusively from members outside the Project Reality community, who are paying for things other than our servers, and are typically just fans of the channel. Even Project Reality viewership on Youtube is decreasing, which means the ad revenue from that is becoming a less viable means to pay for the server as well.
So it comes to a point where we hit a wall. I'd love to tell you "yes we understand the server is having issues, and we're working to solve it" but I can't. Right now all the problems we're experiencing are from external sources that we have little to no control over. The only way we could possibly avoid the issues we're having would be to buy better hardware with a new provider, which we don't have the money for.
So all I can tell you currently is to wait for it to pass, hopefully it does... but if it doesn't, there's not much we can do about it.

Re: Free Candy Van
Because its not our fault, and we don't feel like allowing a shitty provider to keep our community from enjoying the game. There's a reason people like FCV over other servers, and I think for many of us we'd rather play on our own laggy server than someone else's whose is slightly more stable.FFG wrote:Why is the server allowed to populate, if its this laggy.
If you don't like the server, then go play somewhere else. It's not an obligation for us to kill ourselves just because we're having some rough times. I would expect you of all people to respect that.
