All I'm asking is to give us players an option to zoom in(doesn't have to be nearly as powerful as the zoom with the binos) and maybe have a bit of zoom when aiming the unscoped rifles, with the BUIS this definately seems possible now.

I see if someone is approaching even without binos, my monitor is smaller than my resolution(1920x1080) so I'm getting a pretty small picture but still can see some dots, then I check my map to see if those dots are enemy or not and report to my SL.
When it's necesarry to just spot(not engage) I don't need no binos to do it.
You seem to be some kind of super PR-player with super powers able to spot people a kilometer away without zoom. Damn, I wish I had the same ability!
Anyway, I think many people here forget that PR is a game before anything else, if we wanted to play milsim relying on pretty much everyone and anyone while everyone is not even reliable we would join the army.
Yes it'd make people look at their map more, yes it'd make people communicate more, and yes it'd make people rely on their squadleader more. But no, this only works in a perfect PR utopia where everyone looks at their map regularly, where everyone communicates properly, and where squadleaders are all experienced. Isn't this obvious enough?

I would be all for a slight zoom when aiming down sights with iron sights.

I dont think that is a good idea. Please dont bring us artificial zoom like the old PKM back... Its fine how it is, it gives players with binocs a benefit, you dont need a binocular unless you are running around as a lonewolf. I like it how it is now, its awesome. And btw: I dont have super powers, honestly, but i can spot people up to 500m without zoom aswell. All i need is my map. You can clearly see people moving, the players that arent moving shouldnt be spottable for you at all, so...

I thought maximum view distance is around 700m?

Well people are discussing "PR utopia" everywhere on this forum right now, like that thread about completely removing nametags for example. And you know, sometimes radical things like that work, bring more fun and force people to communicate properly, and they do communicate properly.

Must be because of my laptop's miserable specs but I honestly can't identify anything that's past 50 meters or so.

But that's how the eye works when aiming, it is by no means artificial.

This.
People overlook this very fact when they refer to the limited resolution a screen offers.

Well the eye works kinda different I believe. You need some time to focus.
Instead of immediatly getting gigantic 2.5x zoom, you should raise your sights first, then wait like 5-10 seconds and then you can press a button and have a zoom(ot it zooms automatically), but that zoom should be really small, simply to help you aim at your target. If you don't have a full stamina bar - you can't zoom in, so you can basically use it only in defense. I dunno if the devs can make something like that or not.
Why do we need this? Becouse not everyone have gaming mouses, mine is cheap as dirt and is too sensitive, it's a pain when I try to aim at someone with ironsights, but if I lower mouse sensitivity even more than I have now, I can't look around becouse it's too damn slow.

I'm not kidding when I say this. When I was playing Saarema I couldn't distinguish friend from foe, much less scanning the surroundings for enemies. If nobody else has this problem I'll try finding a work around for me to level with everybody else in this regard.

You have to live with the fact that gaming with a Notebook or a Low Spec System will just be a disadvantage.
I know it from my own experience as I own a Desktop PC (24", running all at High) and a Laptop (14" all low) and when I play with my Notebook I don't see and can't even hit anybody. I don't blame the game, I blame my PC.
I don't see how adding Binocs would solve that issue for you as everybody else will have bincos as well. So they will keep having their advantage.
And yeah, this is the same issue in any other competitive game.

Binos are a great factor which improves teamplay since you need a squadleader or other kit to spot enemies. Youll have to group up to be able to support your team.
It helps the basic pr mechanics. One special kit is often useless. But when several kits work together they can have a devastating effect.
Pro:
- improves teamplay
- sqm wont look through their binos when they get shot at instead of firing back
- gives squadleader and other kits more use
- more realistic
- weapons with scopes are getting usefull
Cons:
- low spec pc gamers have problems
This is all my opinion but I cant see any other disadvantages.

This is true, it is an obvious disadvantage but everyone doesn't have a 24'' PC. But tell me, is PR made for the group of people that owns super good and big PC, or optimized so a maximum of people can fairly play it?
The first one would be quite selfish and biased.

I don't understand how binoculars would help people with low-end systems. Another ridiculous argument in favour of "Bring back the binos coz I don't want to ask people around where are those Tangos".

First off, I'm in favour of removing binoculars. All I'm asking for is the option to zoom in, BUIS options that zoom in when aiming and having the binos replaced with a "Focus Eye" make this doable easily. The human eye(low spec system or not) is not as bad as the game makes it, so I see no reason to not think about this from both a realistic and game play standpoint.
As for the supposed maintained advantage, I'm more inclined to believe that at least the advantage in medium distance engagements(to about 200m) will(mostly) cease to exist, above that I would assume that I could only shoot covering fire with a non-optic weapon anyhow. I would also assume that outside of engagements I can act as a observer to some degree again. And inb4 anybody says that this should be left to the guys with binocs, I state ZDv 3/11 #2 of the German Bundeswehr stating that(paraphrasing) "even when not being ordered to explicitly, every soldier has to observe." I guess this is true for all armed forces.

Suggestion:
what about to replace binoculars with "observation mode", when weapon is in your hands, but fire button activates x4 zoom? And when you switch from observation to weapon it should take just a moment (because weapon is in your hands already).
PS i still dont get why binos were removed (i mean, DEVs opinion on that)

Why I am against this "Focus eye" option is that it would erase the choice between the scoped and the unscoped version of a weapon. What's the point of picking a scoped rifle, if you can make iron sights magically scope at your will?

I did not litteraly said that binos would help people with low-spec systems. Read and don't mix everything up, and if you are for the removal of binos then give us your arguments, and don't act like a child !

I noticed, while playing as SL, that I use the binocs less often then before (i guess because I know my enemy cant spot me as easy as in older versions.) The last 3 rounds I only used them for lazing.
The last rounds I played none of my SMs had a problem with having no binocs.
@nyao: Please try to be more polite. All of your posts feel a bit agressive and are without any real feedback btw.

Sqirrel, if you mention my post before, you can understand that it is quite dumb to come just to say that someone's argument is ridiculous without explaining anything, it's a debate so why not debating? I'm not being agressive why would I even be, if it feels so then I'll add some smileys
And btw I am the creator of this thread/poll, so do you really think I don't give any feedback..
Anyway, could a MOD extend the poll time if it's possible please? so a maximum of people can have time to try it out and have an opinion on it, it's not like we need instant results anyway

The amount of magnification obviously.
