If you drop resolution to 1440x900 you should be able to play at decent framerates and medium settings.
Could you give me some pointers?

Exactly which Radeon HD 4800 model do you have? OC that too.
Sir, wait. Are your advice for us to overclock our hardware, when it's the engine or performance optimization that fails?

Are the performance issues the PR teams fault or out of date gaming systems fault?

Prevtzer, do NTO overclock that GPU, it doesn't have enough cooling potential if you increase the heat.

PR team. Everyone could run the game fine at .98, but all of the sudden we see these MASSIVE hits to frame rate. Not the engine.

I'm fine with lower FPS, if that means more high definition textures, effects and overall future improvements, however they've (I know they will eventually or possibly not) to find the sweet spot, before we all go haywire, sir.

Ha, I turned everything to the lowest settings possible, there wasn't a major improvement in performance.
Oh well, I'll get a NASA PC sometime in the future, I just hope BF2 :P R isn't dead by the time I do.

I tried Different Quality Settings (highest Lowest) and the Fpsgain is minimal ,around 10%.Same with Resolution.

Some Things i noticed:
-Gpu or Cpu are never maxed out. GPU around 20% -30%.CPUcores around 50 %

-Fps increase corresponds with GPU Load Increase.
Higher Fps = higher Gpu Loadout,so something is holding back the Gpu from giving it all.

-Fps depends in which direction one looks.and what is /would be in that Direction, not what is drawn on the Screen.Same fps looking out of a window ,or looking straight at a Wall.

For Example: Map Burning Sands,Empty Server,
Start around 80 fps,Fps drops to ~35 as i drive closer to the City.
Standing in a Room at the Edge of the city.
Looking at a Wall or out of Window in Direction Citycenter about 30- 40 fps. Gpu Loadout about 20%.
Looking at a Wall or out of Window in Direction Desert about 60-70 Fps. Gpu Loadout about 30%.
On a full Server this drops even lower (ranging from 7 Min to 40 Max Fps).

0.98 had some slowdowns in certain Maps/Cities, but it came not even close to that.

I started some Hardwarescanners & Alt+Tabbed after having around 8 fps on a full Server playing Dovre.

This showed up:

Nothing was even close to being maxed out.

Hope that Helps.

You wouldn't believe how many times we have discussed the effects in the dev section and how we kept pushing Bruno and Anders to compress stuff more and come up with better performing solutions. And they made it happen. Now don't you ever say we like new effects more than performance.

Next to that, tons of stuff got added to the mod. Effects are just one part of that. I don't think you can point at one thing and claim that is what is causing performance issues.

I don't know if you discussed it or not but it's obvious that you chose all the new effects, textures etc. over performance, since you were obviously aware of performance drops during the testing. I mean, you've made PR far more demanding than BF3...

Could anybody explain why my FPS gets up to 100fps from 25 if I look through binos?

I saw someone post earlier about the GPU only being paprtially used.

I was monitoring GPU usage with nvidiainspector and the usage stayed around 30%. It jumped to 70% once or twice, and occasionally would go to around 50%.

there is a same problem with CPU usage too ! PRBF2.exe never goes above 60% in my PC , but BF2.exe in 0.98 was around 90% all the time !!! :?

I have tried everything in this thread... NOTHING makes any difference...
I noticed same stuff with CPU - I have quad core and max usage I saw was 30% of one core...?!
RAM same... 30% maybe 40% not really over loaded.

I hope that DEVs are looking for solution or fixing it already.

It seems like a very complex issue, I mean there are so many different systems and combinations. I can't see any easy fixes coming :-?

We get that you guys are dedicated. Or I at least hope you're true to you word(s). With that said, most of us- at least speaking for myself, are just irritated man. This is an 8 yr old game that has grown to be one of the best damn games I've played...and it's a mod!! Brilliant! However; 1.0 looks awesome. Sounds amazing, but plays just poor. I can play any modern game on all ultra practically 1920x1080 with vsync and get solid 60 fps. . MAYBE an occasional hiccup..but that's typical. When it comes down to looks vs. performance, any true gamer would pick performance. What fun is a game that looks and sounds great but is choppy? None. I know this mod is free. I get that. However, like the saying goes " if it aint broken don't fix it". You upgraded to 1.0. Worked your asses off. I commend you guys. Honestly. As a player though , I have to admit I'm extremely frustrated with this release. Prior PR's ran like butter. Something with 1.0 just is not working. I have a great rig and should NOT be experiencing any problems with a engine this old. A few fps drops are expected of course. Not 30 frames dropped when looking at a building(s)/city or a bush..or just some direction. You guys have to see it from our standpoint too. We don't know what your intentions TRULY are. We can only hope. It's like Red Orchestra 2. It came out buggy as all hell. Thankfully the devs listened to their fans and even apologized and fixed 95% of the issues. Not saying you guys owe us an apology at all. Just an example. It makes me chuckle playing this with 60fps (vsync) then dropping to 20's. I pop in BF3 and I'm a solid 60fps on ultra. I've exhausted every trick to "fix" this 1.0.

By the way , I am by no means altering my hardware for this game. That's ridiculous that it's even mentioned. For the most part - it's not us. The frames/game speaks for itself. If we ran it fine before..now it runs like ****..... Just saying.

Hoping for a fix.. 8-)

sorry for typos- on my phone

As I just said. I tried everything. I just got out of a game. With good frames UNTIL I got to some point near the city in OP Marlin. My frames dropped about 15-20 frames. It got all jumpy and shit. Even without vsync...

I ran all high w/o Vsync and got completely playable fps on Xiangsomething and Vadso, though I have never been to urban parts of anything yet. Waiting for Fallujah or Ramiel to pop up to really test it.
