Do what you want. Once it gets out of hand I could care less if it gets locked.

This isn't a pissing contest by any means.
Computer parts are not reserved to only exclusive segments of society. Everyone and anyyone can acquire them should they choose. But b/c some people choose NOT to acquire those, their opinions on the future of gaming are worthless. They've shown through purchasing power that they don't care enough to upgrade, but they care enough to help mold future developments? Quite frankly, that attitude can go fuck itself. You don't want to put in the effort (by acquiring new hardware), but you wanna ***** about it?

Since we all live in different parts of the world, i can assure you that things are not going to be vey cheap some places for some people. Sure "They can afford a comp then they can afford this kind of stuff!". There are a wide range of extenuating circumstances that could happen to anyone of us like even hyper inflation!...Ironicly, its pretty dam likely that the soul reason your gear was cheap enough for you is because someone in your county screwed up someone elses. Ironicaly relevant is that the US speculated Iraq's and Afghanistan's currency before taking military action.
Your point is like saying
"Well all disabled people can get the F**k out of my country because they cant contribute to what i do. Its slowing down progress"
....except(very roughly) a 3rd of the population would be disabled.
Look at life from anothers eyes

well..... uuuhhhmmm I think that.... uuuuhhhhmmmm that this game should be developed for the best things that are available, because uuuuhhhhmmm yeaaah... they are available and people could, if they wanted to, buy all that stuff, and if they dont they dont have the dedication that is needed to play this game..... uuuuuhhhmmmm.... yeah then they shouldn't be allowed to.... yeah something like that...... uuuuhhhhmmm

Infantry draw distance, that is the range at which enemy infantry are shown on your computer UNZOOMED is approx 250m in game. With full sniper zoom the draw distance increases to approx 500m.
So whether the view distance is 500m or 5000m it doesn't matter you twits. I'd support it because this is a realism mod, and realistically you can see that far in Iraq/most places unless weather is affecting the operation.

The attitude that those who can afford to constantly upgrade should have more say than those who can't, in regards to a modification for a game with very clear system requirements, can quite frankly go f' itself.
Sometimes this thing called 'life' can get in the way of you owning the latest and greatest in computer hardware, and it's quite annoying to hear A: 13 year old twits, who have never worked an honest day in their life but have everything paid for by their parents, and/or B: people otherwise more priviliged than most who can afford to stay on top of what's new hardware-wise, try to dictate to me what should and shouldn't go.
That being said, this isn't BF2. This is a modification, and so it goes that the system requirements may not necessarily accurately depict what is required, and certainly it is ultimately the mod team's decision as to what goes and what doesn't. Personally, while my computer does struggle now and then, and while I probably could afford to upgrade without much trouble, I wouldn't mind seeing the view distance increased a reasonable amount.
An important issue is also what % of the community is running hardware that could sustain increases like this. I'd define "sustain" as being able to run the game at a reasonable frame rate, disregarding image quality. If you're crying about how you won't be able to run the game at 8x AA and 1600x1200 at 100fps and high image quality, perhaps you should put yourself in the position of those who sacrafice all image quality just to have a shot at playing. Considering how many people complain about Al Basrah as is, which is obviously the focal point here, it'd be interesting to see what would happen if the view distance was drastically increased.

Maybe we should have somekind of a vote for incresing the max viewdistance.
Not much, but like +300 for start. If voted yes, it could be keeped. But if still people wouldnt like the increased viewdistance, then it could be removed in next version.
I think that +300 doesnt give so much advantage. It just looks better. The snipers would maybe a little bit advantage, but you still have to be aim well. Standing targets are easy but moving targets arent any more.
But why should it be fair. Life isnt, so why games should be.

I would like to point out the above quote:
But why shouldnt it be fair. Life isnt, so why games should be.
Now, by definition, only one group of people will ever agree with this, therefore that is not a valid statement. This same group defined by the above example will later switch groups when they have been n00btubed by a RPG within 10metres, and there lies said problem with the statement - it is completely subject based, with those promoting it often swtiching for their own personal objectives and not through an objective belief.
... intelligent me pwned the world with that line of thinking!

hehe. Thats one of my pet peeves too Lothrian. I hate that statement with a passion.

If your computer cant handle it, lower your settings. If you cant lower them anymore, press "quit". Go outside, go to a pc shop and cough up the cash. BF2 is nearly two years old now.
2 year old high end cards now only cost $125, which isn't a lot seeing you have an internet connection, can afford BF2, a keyboard, a mouse, a LCD monitor, speakers, a mother board, the old graphics card, and so on...
Upgrading doesn't mean you have to go for the best (ei, 8800 GTX SLI) you go for the best you can get for the cheapest. Best example of this is probably the 7600GT or something.
That's funny

You know why? Couse I paid for my rig 2 years ago 4.000 (not dollars, but polish money) I'ts about 1200 $. I can play this game on medium no problem exept al basrah and few maps with lots of grass. So I had to put sets to low on some settings.
Those 1200$ is, with work I have now, 6 months of work. You know how much I have to save to have that amount of money?
My internet connection is 10$ monthly, I dont have LCD and have old keyboard and mouse.
In my country computers are more expensive then in US and I earn lots of less. I have studies to pay for too.
If you put view distance futher, I will have to live with that, but pleeeeaaaaaseee don't put such "advices" to ppl that can't afford better rigs then they have now....
I bought 512 ram lately just to play more smoothly on BF2 (have 1Gig now). I paid for it 1/3 of my montly sallary... That is called saving for hobby!!! If I would like to change Gfx or processor I need to buy new mobo too...
I have Gf6800, 1gig ram, athlon mobile 2.5+ @2.2 (ddr - 215mhz), so my rig isn't very low.

Guess what?
My Rig's worse than yours and cost more, 2 years ago.
I play everything meduim execpt lighting, 1280x1024, no lag at all. (6600GT).
Many people waste money on GFX, when all you need in life is RAM!
I saved like a ***** to buy me a X-fi extreme gamer. Check the price on that one.
People should research more before buying their hardware, thats my advice.

now that I think of it, I'm kind of against increasing view distance, not at all system based, but that tanks will spot my dirka bike driving across the dunes!
