the problem with thors is the small timewindow you have to really enjoy the high standard it has a reputation for.
you go in to early you have european teens without VOIP or not even got the breaking of voice.
during primetime you can be lucky getting a slot and get blown away from the skilled teamwork.
you join in to late you have american teens unnerving you with highpings and statements like: "enemies over there" or "I'm dead"

Yes, that's really annoying.101 bassdrive wrote: ...you go in to early you have european teens without VOIP or not even got the breaking of voice.

But last night, that guy "Dr.Interplay" beat that all.
He spammed the chat with "I CAN READ RUNES" like there was no tomorrow.
And that's not the first time he was doing that.

hehe, sure... every server has its problems.
BUT i hope u all understand that two servers with 64 and 50 slots are a huge challenge for TB.
Cause every BF2-Admin will agree that the ingame-adminstration has many problems. And on the Desktop u should have some players in ur teamspeak who will be ur "eyes".
We will get better in hunting all these smacktards. Just post these wh***s to this thread
Cheater Database
I think we shouldnt open new threads for individual smacktards... just throw them into the "trash-can" - we will take these names and save them in our ban list.
thx
@ALL who think...
we invite smacktards to play on our nice servers - no they aren't welcome

I have noticed something lately. Can't really remember if it has always been this way or if it has gotten worse, but ... what is up with getting pissed of with anybody/everybody who uses VOIP.
I do the "Medic down" or "Claudius going SW" and for some reason people yell their heads of that I should shut my gay faggoty mouth up in "I don't give a fuck where you are going".
End result is I now try to limit my reports to Ventrilo with my other clansmates. At least I take the time to remember where they set up shop, and if they die I know where to reinforce and get a good idea where the hostiles are. Alot of people talking about teamwork both in game and on the forum. Guess what. That teamwork goes both ways. It does not apply to everybody teaming up for YOU. And if you don't have a good idea where your squadmates are, then maybe you are not the uber great killer skiller teamplayer that you thought you where?
It irritates me to no end. People have demanded that folks get VOIP working, and now we tell them to STFU? Now that I have gotten my bloodpressure up - You STFU. I would rather have one 13 year old kid with VOIP than an asshat, lonewolf, superman or selfcentered dope.
Is there room for improvement how people communicate on VOIP? Yes.
Could gamers without army experience irritate the hell out of gamers with? Yes.
But this is a game. This is not the army. And those who wants to join will do so. Let the rest of us play war.
I will leave you with some parting words. In my experience I found more polite and courteous 13 year olds using VOIP than people that consider themself as grownups. And that is sad.
Most gamers here are "adults" (I use the word lightly) and the young ones know it. If they want to fit in, they know they have to behave.

If anyone ever tells you that again, tell them the clicked on wrong desktop icon, because they really did.Hx.Clavdivs wrote:I have noticed something lately. VoiP is a nice feature for many.... for me its the best and important game content.
Without proper communication nothing wont work and we all would have to type our ideas into the chat.
It took me a long time of learning how to use voip efficiently.
Many players even dont know where this push2talk button is
Others have problems with their hardware or config.
And oppressing screaming and jelling is difficult for many too
Many players really dont know how to make a correct announcement.
I think every newcomer and non talented player will have to play a long time to realize HOW to communicate.
@Clavdivs:
i think ur skill is just raising while many others just start at the beginning of pr
so ur individual gap between urself and the others has become bigger.
@any DEV:
the admins need a "global VoiP" feature, so they could talk to EVERYONE whos on the server.
it wont be very important to hear them

Hah my favorite is people like X-3D chris who screams profanities when he dies.
ON the OFF topic: Learning what is important info and NOT is something thats learned through either PR or some other teamwork based game, I started off vBF2 for using my mic only to talk to real life friends chit-chat, then soon as I found PR started having a blast as the community grew and grew
Old thread is that'a way ==========================================>

@eddie:
Beeing a (24/7) uncommitted admin is a very very very veryyyy hard job.
Its no fun and if u wanna count grey hairs earlier, start beeing a admin on a big server (for bf2 or even worse pr - cause the identification of players is very difficult)
Cause when ur online and able to play u will have to switch to ur desktop right after u have connected to your server and have to open bf2cc and are "forced" to:
- warn, kick or even ban some idi**s
- kick for clanmembers or switching them back to their side (cause bf2 decided to switch him)
- start the server after crashing (hopefully it wont do it so soon again^^)
- wait for players when its empty
- work with clanmates together in teamspeak so they can report from ingame while an admin is on desktop at bf2cc

I am humble enough to say that I am still having difficulty using VOIP for max effect. I have no training on how to make messages short and sweat, and I have been around a "short" (in PR terms) while.
PR Gods have blessed Helix and now we have some ex-army guys barking out orders and "codes" left and right and I am doing my best to keep up.
That said: Even badly worded intel is better that absolutely none at all.
And on the last bit ... What can I say? You never, ever on the "top" of PR. In my humble opinion you can never be better than the next. There is always someone new joining in that suddenly learns you something new. That be communications or smart positioning for an assault. And I'm not even going to comment the fact that 6 lousy gamers suddenly can become the best squad if they just complement each other and look out for one another.
For every smacktard out there, there is a new gamer joining our ranks that contribute. Exciting times.
That said. TB: 20 minutes ago - TREASON! TREASON! TREASON!
Oh, and on the last post. I agree. We are not paid to for full time administrating servers. Negative side: We are not paid professionals.
Positive side: Smacktardians are delt with in accordance with street justice.

tbh claudius..
ive started squads which got filled with lowrank people who luckely followed my orders and ended up scraping together more points then C5 training squads.
youd be amazed how well it goes when you respect every squadmate, keep the tone polite and listen to their things they got to say and ask them to repeat cause u didnt get it cause they got a strong polish accent or so^^
simply what will we do followed by why we do it.
keeping it transparent.
if your self-balanced enough you shortly tell em thanks, but you dont know where left is and explain them to use point of compass.
number of enemies, point of compass followed by explaining the spot (building, red cargo etc)
works everytime.
but yeah sure, it often doesnt approach officerrank squadplay.

sure space I dont dispute that a second.
what I tried to say is simply if you keep the proper tone in VOIP it mostly works out quit well and even people who are new to the game can make a crucial impact ( search RP in this area).
to get it more ontopic: as you said its hard to value squads.. it might be nice to give more points for stratecial stuff like RP destroying or placing a RP behind enemy lines.
that way u wouldnt want to stay inside a building to rack up kills which still equal the most points with the multiplier.
