Updated title to reflect content.

If you've yet to test it out, its everything (almost) PR is missing as far as communication.

AS far as a official post, well let you guys know. What we need to work on is a way for cheating not to happen. If I have my max distance set to 50m and yours to 100m and were enemeys you can see the problems there.

But having locked down setting looks like something that can happen and we will let you all know.

It still needs a lot of refining, like with Jaymz's settings, I was 5 metres from robbi, I look at him, he speaks, hear him fine, i turn around, and he sounds like a mouse, but yah, it has potential.

Guys, I'm kind lost here.

As a open source program, can PR use it in a future release ?

and what is so special in this program ? I was reading some posts, will it work like the RnL mod talking system, where you can talk and hear only with people near you ?

It would be cool if the first post was updated.

I always wondered about bundling a third party VOIP application with the mod. Might have to go back to using your own .exe so you can make people auto-launch the VOIP application (if it isn't open already) when they launch PR.

i was thinking that too, and since its open source, wouldn't it be possible to make it so that you join a server with mumble enabled and you can instantly join the mumble server, too? You'd just need modded server files as well with the correct mumble settings and such.

Yes, it's like that but works better. Here's another video of us using it this weekend:

If this is implemented alongside PR we sure gotta thank the Mumble devs for their help and great product. I tihnk they'd deserve some ads in PR to promote Mumble. Would help us as much as them, wich is a great thing.

Looking forward to see a PR «default-locked» plugin for Mumble. If this ever gets included, we're reaching a new era of BF2 :P R gaming. Even without it being a new PR release.

-I don't think having both teams in the same channel so everyone can hear each other should be the way to go. Considering that if these sides(US vs PLA, for instance) were fighting in real life they probably wouldn't be able to understand much of what the other side was saying(Don't know how many people speak Mandarin in the US Army :p ). English might be overheard more easily but I think that one should assume that in the heat of battle it's hard to be able to decipher what the other side is saying over all the noise, jargon, accents, and so on. And that's ignoring the fact that they are speaking two completely different languages.

EDIT: Of course, the entertainment value of hearing and talking to the other side is teh epic, proven by the RnL mod :D .

Naww without both side in one channel, what makes it fun! Currently we have each team in different channels, but once we get it more fully integrated it will be put on the table.

Not sure why, but positional audio will only work once, until I close mumble down. Next time i start it up it will cease to work. The only way I can fix this is to reinstall mumble, which is becoming a pain.

would there be a way to incorporate this with the PR package?

can BF2 auto-launch another program and connect to a server? i've never noticed if the game could or couldn't. (i.e. does BF2 have the same capabilities as a game like Raven Shield which was based off the UT2003 engine where a 3rd party plugin could launch and connect to a teamspeak or vent server?)

-They're aiming for that.

Guys, don't spam this thread with cheeseburger images. They add nothing to the subject and therefor will be removed.

I tnink it is not difficult to add a button for radio communication, so no one more program will be needed.

The client setting must depend on server configuration. All voices must be heared within the MaxDistance around (in according with settings). So, 'built-in' mumble client for PR is very very cool.

It could be done. You can even launch multiple programs with a .bat file.
