If you don't want Spec Ops fighting like a rifleman, give him a suppressed pistol or SMG. A pistol alone could do the job, but the SMG might be desirable for CQB.
What about a parachute?

I can't source personal experience.
I've never actually fired a silenced M4 so I couldn't tell ya. There is a very noticeable difference, especially with the MP5. Silencers work, not like Hollywood shows them, but they definitely make it much more difficult to recognize them as gunshots and recognize a source of the fire.

I never play spec ops unless an SL asks for it for the hook or SLAMs, ecc. Or, if I am in a two-man sniper team. I hope that the spec ops kit in 0.85 morphs into a spotter kit that recognizes the necessity and usefulness of a spotter-sniper combination by tweaking the points system.

when i play whit my clan mate we use it to spot target for attack helo, jet fighter, attack aircraft and the bomber... if there is no aircraft we use it as demolition expert, if there is nothing to destroy we use it as spotter for sniper....

Maybe it would be worth creating a new kit, or splitting the spec ops kit into two different kits with two tool sets for spotters and demolition/target-lazing types alike.

KP, you continue to fuel my winky sig (check it out, 4 so far

)
EDIT: ****, I can't get more than 800 characters in my sig, including the links

Any easier way to link back to these post?
Edit2: I got it working, just had to decenterize it

/ Oh well, its a price to pay in order to tally the tantilizing winks

Also, I believe the first thing I'll do when .85 comes out is request the Spec Ops/Demo engineer because of your winks.

you can use
tinyURL significantly shorten links
IMO All that Spec ops should strive for is to be Demo-man and spotter.
