Can other weapons lock on to the white box?
I'm thinking fire one weapon to 'paint' and a second weapon which can lock onto it?

^ seems like an obvious idea so I would assume it's already been suggested.

You have given me an idea for something there, but currently no one else can see it.

If I understand it, it would be a TV missile, Wire guided laser box. I believe I once tried suggesting that, and I just said "Why not have it so you click once and the laze lands where you clicked in helicopters?"

It somehow got shot down for being harder to use than the current model :|

I'd like for you guys to make sure that you can unclick missile locks on flares. For example...

Choper -> Aim at it -> Flares -> Missile locks on flare before being fired -> unlock lock -> missile locks on target again, this time choper -> BOOOOOOM.

Please?

Eh, just so you know, as it is in CA, the system is completely different from PR.

The flares are not things that can be locked on. They simply will hide the heat target of the aircraft if it's within the 5m range.

This is why AA is far more effective in CA compared to PR. Spamming flares doesn't really help if you don't know where you're being locked from.

Th3Exiled wrote:Have you played Combined Arms? You can't lock onto flares, all the flares do is hide the heat source of the aircraft and distroy any projectiles that hit them (the flares have a spherical collision mesh with a radius of 3(?)m).
Which is why descending into your flares in a helo while spinning and spamming more in all directions is a good idea.

I feel as I'll waste many hours on this mod. Better than I could've wanted ;)

Where can you download the damn thing? I've googled it and I can't find the homepage.
Nvm I found it ;D

I thought I'd revive this thread so that people can have a go with the latest version.

Things I love

FLIR - its not perfect, but its a reasonable portrayal within the confines of the engine
Aircraft physics - Operation Jungle Fire v0.1 - Xfire Video the hueys are a joy to fly now. Kinda like the half way point between PR and ArmA. No more faceplanting.
Sounds - the sounds of coaxial guns are much better imo, the sounds of changing ammotype in tanks are nice as well.
Flares - the flare effect is much more realistic than PR's
AA - I'm not sure about the manpad itself as it doesn't seem to give a lock tone, but the chopper side of the AA is perfect, really supports using flares whenever your doing something rather than only when you get the lock tone. The lock tone is much better than a little beeping thing.
Attack Heli weapons - The sounds of the cannon etc are much better. the hellfire missles system is damn perfect. Now you have to hold click to fire, so you have to have the reticle over the target for about 1.5seconds, after that you don't need to guide the missle anymore. I think this simulates how the stabilsation works IRL. However this isn't overpowered as the rate of fire of this system is very low. Also the hellfires have a top down attack like IRL, very impressive work.
Tank = big, I like the tanks being huge :P though the texture needs some love imo.
Huds - the huds are all fantastic, and MUCH MORE REALISTIC than PRs (at least mostly, not sure about a couple of the armour huds, though the TOW hud is based on RL pictures, so I think they are much better aesthetically and realism wise)

What I don't like
The redone sprint system is kinda naf imo, when the shooting starts I can't dart to cover.
The Scopes have 2 levels of zoom, I really don't like that since its kinda wierd. But I can see the reasoning that IRL you can steady your rifle without looking down the scope, so it would be nice if there was a undeployed mode, but this might be a placeholder.

What I'm not sure about
WASD system for turret controls.
Now, I kinda like this, I think it better simulates RL controls, however there is a problem with sensitivity, however I am convinced this can be overcome, maybe with extra ammolinked weapons with lower sensitivities, or some way of making it less sensitive when zoomed. With this system I set the turret to be controlled by my joystick, which is even more realistic, and is super hard to get used to but I think its awesome. This system would mean the deviation for coaxial guns and possibly drop of the main rounds could be decreased considerably.
The jets,
All the new weapons on the jets etc are awesome, but I'm not sure about them cuz I suck with jets :D
Fire Control System - Armour can lock on to other armour kinda, now I think this system is good and portrays realistic technology, however I would prefer it required a smaller degree to lock on - so you need to have ur reticle very near the target. Coupling this with the WASD system really make it work overall I think.

I also hear CA is planning on using your map Al Muthana Desert rudd?

Yeah, for their purposes its at the point where it can be used. However I'm still working hard on it to get it up to standard to get it ready for PR. I'm currently doing ur field overgrowth tut to replace most the olive groves with fields. I am calling the current version of al muthana .5, so its half done :) . But its still alot of fun :)
