That is amazing. My friend has the exact same problem, same BF2 and PR problems when installing on win7 64 bit. Same loading screen, same PR.exe problem bla bla bla.
Nothing has worked so far, but i'll try your version.

What is the deal with this? I have tried every damn solution in all of these threads and none have worked. I have the exact same problem as all the other folks posting in here. Do the developers see that this is a major issue that needs fixed? Can they release a patch/download/update/replacement .exe that will fix it? Am I missing something here?!? Is the BF2 PR mod dead?

Setting the PR shortcut to run as administrator solves the pr.exe problem, but when PR loads, the first load box with the dog tags comes up, but then is replaced by the BF2 load screen. I?m sure this is not suppose to happen, and then the screen goes black, flashes and back to black and then desktop.

Also, i cannot run PR without the BF2 disc in the drive, which i am pretty sure is not required either.

BF2 is having problems running after installing PR, because I played BF2 before installing PR and everythin worked fine.

I've installed PR 0.95 on XP.
Everything worked fine, until i try to join a MP server it loads until 80% and then it just crashes. I get no error message, or anything else.

I've tried to join a Co-op server, and that worked fine...

Anyone knows what to do?

No one posted solution works on Win7 (All frameworks, updates, drivers are latest), . I have an headache.
Even runnig the pr.exe causes that "You must use "pr.exe" to run Project Reality. Please update your shortcuts as required."
Come on, developers, start do something

Want you money back....you could contribute positively but no, you decide to *****, the community here works on the basis of your nice, we'll be nice....but you decided to be rude.

But in any case, try running as admin....

Hello Devs!

I wanted to let you know that PR works wonderfully in Vista 64! However, I was trying to get PR to work in linux via wine/mono...neither worked. Seems that the pr.exe calls on bf2.exe and then the tr.exe file. I was wondering if the devs had time to see if they can get it to work on ubuntu/linux distro? The main problem with wine on linux is that net framework 3.5 doesn't work at all....probably be some time before that problem will be fixed.

It's too bad that PR couldn't be started via a command line like this:

"C:\Program FIles\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\BF2.exe" +menu 1 +fullscreen 1 +modPath mods/pr etc.....

I'm not too sure what the pr.exe calls? Does it implement net framework to work with pr? I have seen pr.exe call on BF2.exe and the tr.exe. I was wondering how the pr.exe calls on BF2.exe as well as tr.exe. Maybe there is a way to get this to work in wine on linux?

Any help is appreciated!

Greetings Gentlemen!

I made the leap to Win 7 and I too am having problems. I can play BF2 ok. When I try and play PR it gets to the map loading screen and it just stay s 0%. The mouse is still spining and I can escape out, but, the map just won't load. I have tried re installing twice. Same problem each time. I miss PR.

If you have any ideas please be gentle on the tech talk...I am one step from Caveman looking at fire on this thing.

Just install Windows 7 Ultimate 32bit

Installed BF2
then 1.41 patch
then 1.5 patch
then PR 1,2,3

all in that order
I changed the PR target to

"C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\mods\pr\pr.exe" +modPath mods/pr +menu 1 +fullscreen 1 +widescreen

and set to "Run as Administrator"

As Soon as the map loads it crashes...

Any ideas?

thanks

I have had BF2 problems for awhile now and I believe I may have come across a fix for my problem. Firstly however I would like to apologize to sniping coward for taking the time to focus on my problem and doing his best to find a solution to it. I have not checked my mail in months and I would like to apologize to him for never testing his solution.

Just today I was looking to disable the administrator settings on my PR shortcut. Everytime I want to play I have to type in the administrator password and then it will load the game. It was a minor thing that I really didn't care if I could fix it or not but it led me to an even bigger find.

I decided to right click on the Project Reality shorcut and then I clicked on 'Properties.' When I saw that it had a 'Security' tab I realized that this might be my problem with punkbuster. I saw that in the 'Group or user names:' box that 'System,' my account, and administrators were all there. When I clicked on one of them underneath it in the 'Permissions for SYSTEM' menu, everything except for 'Special Permissions' had a checkmark next to it under 'Allow.' I decided then to go to my Punkbuster folder.

In my punkbuster folder there was Punkbuster A and Punkbuster B. I right clicked on Punkbuster A and then clicked on the 'Security' tab. Underneath that just as before for each and every 'Permission' that all but the 'Special Permissions' box had a checkmark under 'Allow.' I then right clicked on Punkbuster B and clicked on the 'Security' tab and saw that under the 'Permission' that all of the checkmark boxes under 'Allow' were blank as well as under 'Deny.' Under the the 'Allow' there is a checkbox that is for 'Full Control.' When I clicked that box in all the rest of the checkmark boxes except for 'Special Permissions' was checked in. I continued to do this for all four of the groups in the section that was above this under 'Group or user names.' I pressed 'Apply' and then I then logged into PR and launched myself into a server and lo and behold it worked! I no longer have to go to my desktop and do what I did before to get punkbuster to run! I hope this works for you as it did for me and I will soon post pictures of step by step instructions on how to fix it. Thank you for reading this long post but in the long run I hope it works for you as it has for me! 8)

Listen up those of you who have the game giving a few seconds of black screen and then CTDing.

I had this problem and tried reinstalling BF2 and then realized my mistake. I didn't actually install patch 1.5. I got it from Gamefront, and when you run it, it asks if you want to install a Yahoo search bar. I declined. Because I was distracted by multitasking, I didn't realize that this quit the installer (I could have sworn the popup said "You have chosen not to install the search bar, installation will continue") and didn't notice that the patch didn't actually do anything. It was actually just a downloader, which then took a while to download the actual patch, then I had to run the patch itself.

Hopefully this is the issue some of you are having, just be sure that you install the actual patch (it's 1.5+ gb).
