Filling it with players and closing the hatch wont work. They all just die when the chopper takes off due to the BF2 engine. They just collide everywhere and take a crapload of damage.

Not if you stack it full ;) that way the characters cannot move all over the bay and slam on the walls etc.

It would be cool to see a mounted gun on the rear door of the helicopter like so.

This would, in my opinion allow the helicopter to hover safley, yet still being capable of being shot down. Sorry if it was already said

Wouldn't a 50cal. on the rear prevent people from running into the back quickly whilst under fire ? Or will they do it so you just press E on the side of the Chinook and you magically become seated inside.

I'd rather prefer to not to have a gun on the rear hatch, because then that would prevent the epic closing / opening of that hatch.
Also i'd rather take the entry / Exit point inside the helo then outside of it, so that little mistake E pressing when as a passenger wont cost you the life and kit you're using, you just need to repress it fast.

And if i recall, there's side "doors" on the helo, which could be mounted with some sort of HMG or such.

If i'am correct, the opening and closing of the back door like the Merlin caused the old "Merlin Bug" I would be surprised if its put onto the Chinook with the past knowledge of that bug.

not its a crappy export of the merlin that causes it to lag, the door has nothing to do with it

one of the many theory behind the "Merlin Lag" was it could be the rear door, when the rear door was removed how ever the lag was still there :p

The ramp on the merlin was also setup in a very different way from the Chinook, with it being player controlled where the Chinook's ramp is controlled via the landing gear, which if the landing gear casued lag, basically every jet and many choppers ingame would already lag :p

That's a brilliant idea. :D

I'm using the FH2's Junker 52 transport aircraft used in the Invasion of Crete map, these planes have a pilot controlled door, although it's only a cosmetic, since players can enter and exit outside the vehicle ( due to BF 2 engine) and if I recall right, it's coded for the flare launch button and just holding it down keeps the door closed.

The problem is for the Helo's though, they only have flare launch button for the flares aside from fire buttons. Unless the Chinook's rear hatch is coded for the Fire 1 button, whereas Fire 2 drops them supply crates.
Would it be possible to code the hatch to respond to that button?

ye I know, I think we need to scrap the Chinook now, and basiclaly all the other helicopters in PR apart from the littlebird and a few other scout choppers since they all can hold more players than the game can fit in them, including the Lynx :(

OFC the engine limits the number of seats, we must live with it.

The winner has to be the five man Humvee though, but it does encourage FOB building with the sixth man in a truck ... so maybe its deliberate?

its meant to be 5 people in it since that's how many soldiers it can take in r/l, no one ever sits in the centre since that sits strait over a fuel line or something and would kill anyone sitting on there instantly if they did or something like that. You would need to ask our MAs for the full details there.

its not comphy, you cant shoot (b4 the armor), cant get in and out easily, and it takes up storage space too.

im not saying scratch the Chinok, maybe put 2 - 4 static crates in it to take up space, then let it drop 2 crates. and when it has weapons its usualy a M-240B on each door and a 50. on the ramp. for those that were wondering. :)

If the fuel line blows, he's not going to be the only one in trouble ;)

As for the .50, would be cool. As for enter/exit points, having them inside the chopper is just asking for massive amounts of TKing due to ticking of the chopper
