Most of S.Ossetia pics with Russian soldiers in modern outfits are portraying VDV soldiers (paratroopers), but in PR we have mix of motor-riflemen and mountain brigades with special guests from specnaz.
VDV could be stand alone faction because of their special weapons and assets, but we already have more than enough factions on the plate.

My bad i did not know that lone wolf spetznats joined with regular motor infantry. Still seems very strange to have single Spec Forces guys attached to a standard infantry company but im not the one making it!
Oh and i never suggested making a new faction. i was saying get rid of the the spetsnatz guy and just replace him with what you already got, simple i presume. Just stick a bandana on the rifleman kit and viola!

Kind of like the U.S. Rangers, but you never see a single ranger attached to a squad of infantry. You see a company of rangers etc. Its hard for me to see a single spetsnatz attached to a squad. I would assume with my basic knowledge of military structure is that spetsnatz work together in teams of spetsnatz and report their intel to the higher ups who then pass it to the infantry. Not have a single spestnatz per squad. I cant think of any nation that splits up its special forces to attach them to infantry, seems counter intuitive to their mission as a light, mobile intel gathering force. But what do i know, im not russian

Then again, snipers aren't supposed to be part of infantry squads, but in their own 2-man squad.

Still i dont think most conventional forces fight with those big backpacks on their back.
Atleast thats what ive been told. becouse it makes them less flexible and heavy.

this heavily depends on situation imo, i.e. if you're somewhere far from your base you will have to carry huge backpack
Great avatar by the way!
iirc there is a dedicated thread for it

You're right, IRL, Spetsnaz in the Armed Forces of Russian Federation are the elite units of GRU (the Main Intelligence Directorate) and thus are very much distinct from the rest of the Ground Forces and usually form part of a larger structure (an army or a military district) as a brigade. Their role has a more strategical role, than that of common ground force's reconnaissance units, that are part of the motorized rifle brigades.
Long story short, there really is no reason for a single Spetsnaz operator in a squad. A Spetsnaz squad may and may not contain all those specialists you would expect to see in a normal military squad: a squad leader, an automatic rifleman, a medic, an AT etc. etc. depending on a situation. Anyway, Spetnaz/Special Forces is just a role to do same tasks that all other militaries do, but in special circumstances and in special ways, like, for example, behind the enemy lines or far away from supporting forces, using silenced weaponry and different evasion techniques, or using Commando tactics to shock the opposing force and lower their morale.
Anyway, it's not something that makes much sense in PR or any similar game, unless a certain mission is designed as a standoff between a Special Forces unit and some other military on the opposing side. You may have an SF squad, that would go far away from the main action to disrupt enemy supply lines etc., but that is probably it. In PR this can all be done by using the same SL, medic, AR and G and Engineer kits, though.
It's not the kits that make you a Special Forces unit, it's your actions.

They most certainly do do, but depending on what they're doing they can take day packs or they can dump them in a hurry if need be.

So now the guns are lying on the ground instead of bags????
That will be frustrating and interesting to try and find teh kit. Especially with a green Rocket launcher on grass

Everything is nice, but why "ZA SPECNAZ" (За спецназ

. Specnaz - special not reguular forces, why he should fight "for specnaz" - like "for Stalin" - it could be written "Specnaz" - if he is from specnaz or patriotic - "for Russia" - "Za Rossiyu" or "for homeland" - "za rodinu". but NOT "for freedom"

))
Anyway that looks strange for me like for russian. Maybe bsc this thing on his head not for army engineers, but for special antiterror units, but even if police going to attack building with narcoterrorists - not everyone has this on the head - only few guys going first in the row bcs this is abit HEAVY. That looks cool but i think complitely not authentic.
And even if we will imagine that engineer took this helmet from apc to do some engineer work - there will not be written "za specnaz" on it for sure

Yes, they can say(not write) "za specnaz" but only if theyr part of specnaz like our blacksea marines when attack can say not only "for russia", but "za chernomorskiy flot" too.
But regular forces will not say "za armiyu"(for army) and of cource will not say "za specnaz" not speaking about written on the helmet.
Anyway these are exclamations and cannot be written this way on ammunition. Esspecially on helmet.
Yes, this is possible that ul see some patriotic exclamation on some attack units like tank, or some rockets. on the jet or on the walls, but not on the helmet.
All u can see on the helmet is name of group or some information about division or name of forces - so u can see real information.
This way - "specnaz" is correct - but only if this guy is really from specnaz(or killed some of them

))
"za specnaz" - is not correct in any context.
But honestly to say - 99% that u will see only more or less dirty helmet - no letters

)))))))

i doubt it could be approved without letting nosferatu know

writing spetsnaz on your helmet is like officer wearing parade uniform on the battlefield. 'za spetsnaz' makes it look that they do not care of what would happen, they are coming to die or win. like marines you mentioned could wear their caps instead of helmets when going in attack on nazis.
also it makes accents that rifleman specialist is not attached to army branch, as such troops, like mountain troops are not in regular army branch.

This is not "officer wearing parade". I told - u willnot see it on the war. If it used by specopses of POLICE then u can see sth like that - bcs people and reporters etc have to know who are these big guys with balaclavas - maybe terrorists.
Usually "specnaz" is written or the rear part of jacket in the middle of the back.
Russians dont write sth on their helmets now and were not before bcs in ww2 these helmets was ideal for cooking food or eat from it.
Yea, and u will not see difference between this guy and other team during operation.
