i have a dream.. to see my map in pr style.BUT map creation is causing cancer to my brain. i used all of these so far
SRTM Data Search (cause g.earth not supporting srtm)-
microdem) -
geocontrol2-
photoshop (image larger than file error) so this follows as an alternative solution
https://docs.google.com/document/pub?id ... -FgCoQXIv0 (but i have issues on execution so this follows)
http://lorneswork.com/projects/BF2HMT/tutorial/ (as its doing it by itself instead of manual cutting the surrounding but not possible to export level , option not highlighted) so i tried to fix image error again and i did and saved the file and this follows-
bf2editor(cause t slice link not working and this editor has slice) but i cant load the saved file so this follows -
https://www.realitymod.com/forum/f189-m ... dding.html and thats my progress. a pure chaos and a map in geodem full of spiky mountains cause i cant preview the effects i put on like height correction or smoothing, i just adjust the sliding bars and nothing happens.

Google Earth IS supporting SRTM.
however, the SRTM4.1 kml for Google Earth is trying to download data from a possibly offline server
http://srtm.geog.kcl.ac.uk/portal/srtm41
Use google earth to find the region, like srtm_28_16 or srtm_28_18
You can manually download the grid data from here:
Index of /data/srtm-tif

Af said 4.1 doesn't work, best bet is to find a dem on the web.
'[R-DEV wrote:AFsoccer;1518360']The newer versions of Google Earth don't show the SRTM4.1 grids or download links. If anyone has found a way around this, please update us.
For now, I'm finding a coordinate using Google Earth and then manually typing that into the search function here:
SRTM Data Search

Can someone help me with this problem?
I'm at the first steps in the tutorial where I should open the heightmapPrimary.raw file in photoshop but I can't get past the "describe heightmapprimary.raw" thing..
This is what I'm getting
I got a feeling I chose a too big area..Is there some way in Microdem to make a 4x4km box instead of guessing?

set the channel count to 1.
Edit: it actually says that in the tutorial

:
n open the new heightmapprimary.raw and when the "describe "heightmapprimary.raw" pops up change chanels from 2 to 1 and the depth from 8 bits to 16 bits. and IBM PC not macintosh.

I've been using the SRTM tool in Google but it doesn't show the hexagons as it should, is the version outdated with Google Earth's software?
EDIT: Welp, hard to read, servers are offline, time to find the manual files then, thanks

This i what devastator_gr sent me when I had the same problem:
That tutorial is a bit dated as google earth no longer supports it. However, I use this website
SRTM Data Search
To find what area in the world I want, then open in it microdem. This allows you to skip the google earth step. All you have to do with this is download the area you want from that site, extract everything from it, open microdem, and open the .tiff. From there you can follow is microdem steps onward. This message is from Rabbit when i asked him about this problem

Please answer
1.Is this tutorial include primary AND surrounding terrain?
2.My map from MicroDEM is big and need to be scaled down. Now is this quote down same for me? In every tutorial sizes are same -1024. My heightmapprimary is 2048x2048 and my microdem file includes surrounding terrain. So how this quote should look like for me?
Zeno wrote:
PHOTOSHOP
then open the heightmapprimary in photoshop and resize the image to 1024/1024 by going to image -> image size
then you go and save the image as photoshop RAW. and with the exact name: HeightmapPrimary
then open the new heightmapprimary.raw and when the "describe "heightmapprimary.raw" pops up change chanels from 2 to 1 and the depth from 8 bits to 16 bits. and IBM PC not macintosh.
then resize the image again to 1025/1025.
then save and remember to mark the IBM PC not macintosh.
Right now you could have just pasted the HeightmapPrimary.raw into your map folder and i would work fine but what we are going to do is to open it in Geo Control 2.

Is your HeightmapPrimary.raw 1025x1025 16 bit?
To answer your previous post,
If you want real life data as secondary terrain you need to make separate heightmaps for them, so you need to put a 3x3 grid on the whole area in photoshop or something and then cut out 9 different heightmaps (1 primary 8 secondary) Afaik secondary terrains should be 257x257 8bit.
You can make simple secondary terrains with bgf heightmap utility by just selecting your primary heightmap. The program will then generate secondary terrains that fit the primaryterrain.

I use tutorial Mineral way.
Now when I cut pices from tiff map,I first cut Primary and saved it as 2049x2049. In photoshop I put 2049 and 16 bit and rest. But For secondary I saved 513x513 and also 16 bit and rest.

As I told you on the FH forums, you can not have 2049 for primary.....
