Besides the massive amount of time and work it would take to get custom player models for all the factions we currently have and will have?
Using an existing model allows a faster workflow and the mixing of different geometries provides more variety, but if someone who actually works with them wants to expand on it he can.
Not to mention I for one am happy with the results, e.g. the
US Army Kit geometries.
I rest my case.

Creating characters is an advanced art form and people pay big money for those kinds of skills. Unfortunately we don't get any salaries here at Project Reality..
At the end of the day would you really care if the face of a player model looked a little like another if it meant adding an additional 6 months or so to development? In this case, it's take it or leave it.

Of course not, but faces are something you just shouldn't screw up. If you cut corners on a tank and have an exhaust pipe in a slightly wrong position that's not so bad. But the human brain is specialized on recognizing faces, so even a little mistake can send the whole thing down uncanny valley. And these faces... if they'd show up in a conscription office they'd be waved through.

I don't really see what the big deal is anyways. You're not going to be staring at each other's faces the entire round, you're going to be fighting or doing whatever you're supposed to be doing, unless that includes staring at each other.

Just one of the reasons why I no longer do this kind of work.
Complaints all the friggin' time, and even before having used the stuff yet.
So ungrateful. If only you guys had some idea of how many unpaid hours it takes to make the things that are in PR.
As always, if you have a problem with something (the faces) then do them yourself.

Thinking about it, I demand re-modelling of ingame characters and maille bikinis for all factions!

A bit offtopic but i'd like to know the very basics of modifying the kit geometries, just like the current US army ones. What programs to use, etc? I got time and i'd like to give it a shot

Great work, love the German faction!

And there are more faces than the 3 reskinned MEC ones, just look at the pic above those, there are also 'younger' soldiers in the mix.
Why have you used the MEC ones at all. They dont look very european to me. The skins from the pic above are good but the MEC noses just dont fit.

They're fine, honestly. Better than 2 dots and a curve with the paint tool.
Just wait till you're in game, I guarantee the last thing you're going to be noticing is the quality of the faces.

Mixed in with the other available faces from Euroforce and vBF2, they provide more variety, so it's less of a clone army.

used to block a big part of the screen too.

Since your eye would be much closer in real life it wouldn't feel as restrictive.Devs any way to make the CQB sight as big as the actual eye piece?Would give more FOV allowing a better feel IMO.

Not to mention, I would be sort of freaked out if people in game were more interested in checking out each-others character's faces...

OK, firstly DEVs the 3D scopes look awesome. Seriously good work there.
Few questions though:
I always thought the G36 bolt catch was in the front of the trigger guard, so you don't have to rack the charging handle when reloading
Also, are grenadiers not allowed to keep a 40 mm round loaded? As I see the soldier removing the grenade when switching back to the rifle.
Finally, will there be any 40 round mags for the MP7 in use?

I would imagine that's standard for most armies, just that this time it's actually animated.

The G36 doesn't sport a bolt hold-open device, unlike the M16 and others. The thing in the front of the trigger guard is the magazine release catch.
