THANK YOU for that. I really love Normandy, but we have been waiting for 1.0 for years now and i would like it to actually be released at some point

So im happy to hear (as i see it) you are focusing your efforts on getting it out, instead of constantly adding new things.
Dont get me wrong, all the new content looks cool, but i would have prefered having half of them released a year ago or what ever. The bird in the hand you know

Mmmh, I think last ETA known was "When it's done"? Not sure, any devs?

What is the main thing holding 1.0 back? Are you waiting for a set of specific models? A map? Coding/animation for all things? Just general random bugs?

They want it to be as bug-less as they can since it's the last and complete version of BF2

Mainly it's one of our new core features that isn't completed yet.
What this is exactly can't be revealed at this point.
Plus a lot of quality control has to be made and bugs have to be fixed.

That's not true. As long as there are developers and players there will be further versions. In fact there are even things we aim to feature in a v1.1 release.

v1.0 will be released in the future. My guess is it's going to be pretty huge, certainly bigger than any previous patch.
Also - is the big feature the Star Wars submod you hinted at about a year ago?

Well hardly any of our mirror balanced maps, are actually a direct mirror balance and that's even if you just take into account each vehicles capabilities. For example APCs like the WZ551 are amphibious and only has a 25mm cannon, where the Warrior isn't amphibious, and has a 30mm cannon and that's not even going into other smaller details like ammo counts, vehicle speed and handling etc. As such, we are only looking at giving roughly the same capabilities for each side in a mirror balanced map, which doing as I said above with 1 light = 1 heavy chopper is the same logistical and transport capabilities more or less of 2 medium lift choppers, even thou tactically they need to be used quite differently, they still offer more or less the same thing.

Out of all the new content we've seen so far prior to 1.0 and how much we will see before the release(more devcasts etc), how much new stuff will we see compared how much new stuff that will actually be in 1.0?
Jeez, I'm having trouble to phrase this..

I know what you want to know but it's difficult to answer. I suppose you want some percentage but that's too hard to tell.
It will be similar to previous releases. We show many of the new things in devcasts/highlights/trailers but there are still some things we like to keep secretly. This being said there are still some major new features we havn't shown publicly yet.

Is the issue where connection is lost when first trying to join a server ever going to get fixed?

Apparantly it's something that punkbuster needs to fix on their side. I think they've been contacted about it already but don't know if they have replied/can fix it. Don't know any more than that myself.

There is a fix for it, someone on the forums made a thread here.... Been using it for quite a while, works great!

What decides whether a feature can be revealed to the public? We've seen core features from 1.0 like the BUIS system and the sound changes, but other things are staying secret. Is it a case of staggering the feature reveals to keep the hype going or something else?

it's done via an awesomeness rating, taking into account coolness, gameplay impact, utility, if it has cowbell etc.
A rating of less than 10 means the feature can be casually mentioned on the forums with detail and included in devcasts etc.
A rating of 10-19 means that the feature can be

-ed at when mentioned by a public forum member, but no details are to be given out until a devcase.
A rating of 20-8999 means that the feature must be given a great deal of pomp but must be secret until a prearranged advertisement strategy is in place.
A rating 0f 9000 or over indicates this feature could explode people's minds with awesome, and in the interests of public safety must be kept secret until we can vaccinate people's minds pre-exposure.
