What does it mean when an admin goes on a kicking spree?

We were playing on Al Basrah yesterday, and I saw a guy with admin rights (=HOG= Nass) kicking players every 2 seconds for being "AFK", even though several of them were clearly not AFK. Over 12+ people were kicked in about 30 seconds without any warnings or any explanation whatsoever.

well i had a really fun time yesterday with a whole lot of insurgency. been a while since i played. admins were doing their jobs from what i could tell.

Wow. Reading this thread makes me feel so bad for the HOG admins. So many little brats making the admins talk in circles constantly. From what I have seen (and I think that I play quite a bit), the HOG admins are fair in their choices. If they ban you, go to their forum and appeal it if you think it was unjust. Don't spew your mouth arguing with the admin expecting to get unbanned. If you aren't sincere, they can tell. Just play by the rules and you won't get banned.

Kudos to the HOG admins. Keep on keeping on.

I was playing as commander for the Taliban and suddenly, without any warning banned from the server? This was on Lashkar right now - 15:45 GMT+1. Why was I banned ? I was literally just helping defend the cache and trying to organize squads outside the cave to build hideouts / call in area attack.

I'm a little disturbed by a certain player that plays regularly on HOG.

Within the past two days I've encountered two incidents with this particular player.

#1 - INS Marlin - observed an enemy specialist/breacher preparing C4 so he could fast drop it on the cache. I mentioned that I had observed this in all chat and this particular player replied asking if it was illegal. While I couldn't verify the particular enemy player, the quick response from this specific player seemed to indicate that it was him.

#2 - Khami AAS - This particular player switched to be on blufor "to play with friends" - one strike IMHO. During gameplay, he ranted and used the word faggot in open chat. I have always admired HOG for taking a serious tone with racism and there is absolutely NO PLACE for any racial discrimination. Would HOG also extend this to cover this type of terminology as well? I am not of that persuasion but I do not discriminate against them. They are adults and if that is what they want to do, that's their decision. I spoke with Haley in SL chat stating my concerns. Nothing was done during play but Haley was busy and most likely were the other admins, so I left it at that. Please advise as to HOG's official stance on this?

We dont have a specific stance on that as being gay is not a race so that wouldnt apply as you had figured out but if that player is verbally abusing someone then that would fall under that umbrella.

If someone says it in passing or as a joke then i wouldnt do anything either but if they wouldnt let it go then i would step in.

in the way the world works, if your gay and you let people know about it, you kinda have to have thick skin as people are unable to tend to their own preferences, faults etc so they poke fun at others.

if the one being picked on complains then we will step in for sure.

and in the first issue, you cant prepare a c4 to place on the cache? i guess i dont know about that one.

I understand on the gay thing and I understand trash talk. I guess there is just too much politically correctness hypocrisy going on right now. Folks can make millions with songs and records saying **** but police get shot and teachers get fired for saying the same thing. .... Enough of that...

On the C4 thing, yes, you can start the process for C4 then switch to another weapon. When you switch back to the C4, it will drop right away, no prep needed. I do it with enemy kits as an INS all the time so when the enemy picks it up, they fast drop C4 at their feet. Maybe that is glitching as well, if so, I will stop.

yeah, got me on that. would be funny to see someone pick it up and it does that though.

Well, I have been on the receiving end of that.

It's like, everyone screams and runs away leaving the poor guy who has no sprint to fend for himself.

I'm also the kind of guy that after killing most of a squad, find the enemy medic kit and hide it far away from the engagement area. It kind of ensures that I get the kills.

Well, let's get this sordid affair over with. Here is some feedback.

Today, around 0010 I was temp-banned for trolling on HOG server. Now to build up a nice character reference for myself, most people can attest that I am in no way a troll in this community and I would like to think that my name and tag can be associated with high quality game-play. Trolling is not in my nature unless you are my friend or clan member, which the HOG admins are neither.

I am a person who cares about this community and this game and will do anything to promote fair play and high quality team work. You won't find any one who disagrees with this unless they themselves are a troll.

Here is the story.

Before I was temp-banned, the server was on muttrah (after playing a full round of fallujah) and just as the round started the server was terminated without any given reason.

When we loaded back into the server to help seed, fallujah was once again in play. Now, like most other players on this server, we didn't want to play fallujah again for obvious reasons.

I, among others, asked why the server was terminated since we were given no reason for this. I got no reply. Fine by me, I don't mind about that.

Shortly after, the admins ran a vote (without the previous map in the list) and that went through. Again, I had no problem with this either. After the vote was finished, I asked the question are we going to play this map or runnext? A question that many other players had a vested interest in because I am sure they didn't want to play the same map again.

Again, I got no answer from 7 online admins, most of whom were on my team. I could see them running around on the map. This gave me the impression they were not going to runnext.

This is quite frustrating and I stated, "I guess the admins don't give a f**k" in frustration. For the profanity I apologise, but the statement still stands.

For this I was kicked. While I understand how the kick was for the profanity, it doesn't take a fool to see that I was being kicked simply because they didn't want me to ask any questions. A simple warn would have been enough in that scenario.

So I come back and I make another comment, and the admin says "because it's none of your business". I am fine with that too but I wanted to make a point and finish things off and I said , well if it's none of your business tell me and don't ignore me.

At which point I was banned for trolling.

A couple of months ago I volunteered for admin rites on HOG to help administer the server when they had a lack of admins. After a few weeks of this I had an argument with the internal admins when they banned a player with the reason "F**K off." After this I decided not to continue with this admin team.

Now it seems that the admins of this server have serious issues with megalomaniacal admins and their hypocritical abuse of power. A problem they seem reluctant to deal with.

By looking through previous comments and the poor rating of this thread it does appear to create a trend greatly against HOG's favour. Perhaps the admins are tired of dealing with negative feedback and as a result lash out disproportionately to anyone who might question their petty authorities. Or maybe it's simply a case of having brutish and unprofessional admins who care only for their enjoyment and not for the service they provide the community who seeds and plays on their servers.

As much as we rely on the generosity of the server admins to host their servers (which I am in no way ungrateful for), the server admins should similarly reciprocate respect and common decency to the players who want to play on their servers and maintain a high level of teamwork - players like me.

I am outraged by the incident today and I am so consistently disappointed by the admins of this server. I am sure many other players are fed up by how they are treated on this server and I would really urge that HOG takes a serious and long look at itself.

I want to preempt an answer that I expect many HOG admins to write here (and have seem them give to members of this community on countless occasions). You might say that, well, if we are so unpopular, why do players keep playing here?

The real answer, and not the arrogant answer you lead yourselves to believe, is that there is little choice of servers. You offer a service to a dwindling community and people are forced to put up with your sour attitude and rudeness due to a lack of choice.

I remember a while ago when other members of this community wanted to organise boycott for this server. A few weeks ago I might have considered that a bit extreme. But after today's events, and having witnessed your admins' misconduct at first hand, I believe that such an action might be warranted (note, I am not trying to organise such an event).

It's a pity that we have to succumb to this treatment on a day to day basis. I don't play this game for that. I play it to have excellent rounds of high standard game play and teamwork. While this can be occasionally found on HOG, I can assure you all that you cannot consistently find mature admins who respect the players who seed and maintain the population of their server.
