Noticed.. I had to switch to habnet.org 50% in, just praying the file isn't corrupt.

20% to go...

The copy of PR v0.4 that I downloaded from Bit Torrent was corrupted. I am now redownloading it. Hopefully it will not be corrupted again.

Edit: I restarted my PC and tried to download a new copy of the file. Apparently, I had forgotten to delete the old copy and Bit Torrent went through the file and fixed whatever part of it was corrupt. I am installing PR v0.4 now. :)

Yes, BT has hashes for pieces of the file, so it can redownload pieces as needed. One of the advantages of BT when combined with a good BT client ;)

this lastest build laggs like hell
on one server, i had a 28 ping, but it played like i had 300ping!
and the FPS was INDESTSCRIBABLE!
one lock-up lasted nearly 2mins!
u just cant have that!

and btw, its nor my settings or my g-card (7600GT) its the build

No Drew it isn't the build.

I play with a worse graphics card, as do many testers and players. I think the problem is you are trying to run the game on settings your rig cannot handle.

Please note also any problem would not be the rig but rather a map etc - if you are having problems with all maps in PR then something is very dodgy your end.

as i said before, its not the settings!
it actually tuned down the settings, and the same thing happened!
but i now what the problem is: the new maps
when i wrote the last post, i had just come off AlBasrah
i tried the same map again on a different server with less people: the exact same result

doesnt mean its the build, might a problem with your pc e.g ram, but not ur gfx card, ur gfx card isnt the only thing that runs it :P

The map is demanding and you are correct, it is NOT your g-card. Most likely you don't have enough ram. The large maps require more data. The less data that can be paged into memory the more lag you will get. When you move from one part of a map to another the data for the map must be read off your hard drive and put into your ram, and stuff that is in your ram must be paged out. So during this process the bottleneck becomes your hard drive speed, not your CPU or Video card.

I get zero lag on the maps with a worse video card. I have a 9800 Pro, but I have 2 gigs of fast memory (2-2-2-5) and a 10k raptor hard drive.

So 2 things to improve lag are more ram and faster hard drive.

Dizzy is right, a 6800 gpu can run everything in BF2 at high, it is the issue of RAM for the most part that makes these maps run. I get no lag at all playing any PR map and all my settings are maxed (except sound, which is high and not ultra high).

soo, does the same apply to a geforce go 7600? i'm only at 1 gb RAM though...
alos, dev team, is it legal to use SF's files without reference? or did you get EA/Dice's permission?

Yes and as dedmon says, yes.

I'f your card is able to run vBF2 at full graphics, it is able to run PR at full graphics. Just an issue of RAM. 2gb *should* be enough.

Wow, that's awesome; i think you guys are the only mod team to date to get official permission
