This is good folks, we're getting there.

Matty, I was on holiday, I flushed my brain out with alcohol and need to re ask yousome basic Q's:

wired or wireless?
static IP or dynamic IP to your gaming PC?
which router, make and model, and which firmware revision?
Do you have many other clients connecting to the router, i.e. other people's PCs/tablets/smartphones/whatever?
You better have flushed your brain out! :) Hope yall had a good holiday

Wireless
? I have it set to Automatic IP setting? So I am thinking Dynamic?
Router: Arris Interactive, L.L.C. tg852g

Model:2 (I guess this is what you want?)

HW Identifier:YN3720 (Idk what that means)

Serial Number:BC3BPNAGL209482

Firmware Verison: eMTA & DOCSIS Software Version:7.6.59C

SOFTWARE IMAGE NAME: TS070659C_050313_MODEL_852_GW_CT_SIP_PC20 (IDK if you need)

YES I have others using my network! (IT occurs when no one but my PC is online tho!)
Seems when .973 was only version, it was no errors nothing. .98 I noiticed a little bit of issues of Dcing. now 1.0 is DC fest 15 min.

I played 16.4 minutes yesterday while no one was on the net'.
Still DC'ed. I also tested my connection on speedtest.... 49MBPS and upload 15mbps

Definently not just a ISP issue?

matty, you absolutely need to set the IP for your gaming PC to a static route, even if it doesn't solve this problem, it has to be tested and ruled out.

From this:
Port forwarding in Arris TG852G/CT - Comcast Help and Support Forums

Log in to your Arris router/modem, get to a screenthat should look similar, but not exactly like this:
The image is from a firmware direct from the manufacturer, Comcast flashes their own firmware into the hardware:
Image

Find your IP address,
on PC, open a command prompt,
in command prompt window type in ipconfig
find the IPv4 or IPv6 address for your wireless connection adapter

Back to the browser window with the router management screen from above,
add a new client static IP with your static IP you just found.
Click Apply.

Go test PR.

We are not turning off dynamic routing, we are just assigning a specific route to your PC, that route gets reserved and won't be given out to other devices.

I'll try PR now.
I edited the DHCP Client Lease Time to 9999

Also I deleted:
E:\Games\Battlefield 2\mods\pr\settings\Usersettings.con
E:\Games\Battlefield 2\mods\bf2\Settings\Usersettings.con

SO:

Now I was able to play like a 4 or 5 hour session of PR with only disconnecting maybe once or twice (of which 1 on map change when the whole server crashed).

I'm basically STILL getting pretty frequent ''There's a problem with your connection'' dialogues, but as opposed to before my PR is now somehow more ''tolerant'' to these messages and doesn't immediately disconnect me from the server whenever I get one of these problems with my connection. Previously I would disconnect after like getting those ''problem with your connection'' messages maybe 3 times. But now I still keep getting them frequently, only I stay in the game, no matter what (with maybe a very occasional disconnect).

:-P

Also: I believe there's a problem with my TV and Internet (ISP confirmed they're working on it), so the source of these ''there's a problem with your connection'' screens can very well be (I think it is) this problem my ISP is solving.

So... my Computers IP adress was: 10.0.0.5
My routers IP: 10.0.0.1, I changed my PC's adress to RESERVED IP: 10.0.0.2
IS that correct? Reserved IP is static basiclly right?

Um,
my Computers IP adress was: 10.0.0.5
but is it still the IP, or did you change it to 10.0.0.2 ?
As long as you are confident you put a static route to your actual PC.
you can open a command prompt,
type in ipconfig
and it will show your IP address

Reserved IP is probably the same as Static, the terminology changes between manufacturers.

can you do me a favor and go under the router hub > Connection > Status > Local Ip address > click edit > under DHCP Ending Address: can you give me the numbers in the last box (##.##.##.this set). Mine is set at 252.

Also your DCHP lease time if you can.

Thank you.

matty, to make sure you have this correct, that is your PC is using the IP 10.0.0.2 that you assighned it:

Verify

To verify that address conflicts have been resolved:
1.At the DHCP-enabled client computer, click Start, in Start Search type cmd, and then press ENTER.
2.To verify a DHCP client lease, type ipconfig /all to view lease-status information.
3.The output of the ipconfig command should show an IPv4 or IPv6 address marked "preferred."

I just checked with people who have PR going without a problem and they are getting the same "denied by DHCP server" error. So that isn't it. I've looked at the Event logs right after I get disconnected and not getting any sort of event. Looks like it's back to the drawing board.

Just to clarify, I wasn't getting either one of those events in my logs, so I doubt that those are the problems.

Edit: I also tried a solution I found with removing a .dat file from Battlefield 2/pb but that didn't do anything either.

Patterson, the DHCP problem seems to arise on particular modem/router combos, Comcast in the US and BT Inifinity in UK both use these Arris manufactured routers with this problem in the firmware. Affects quite a few online games.

So it is the firmware update. It worked fine on 098 until about 1.0 beta came out

So it's the firmware update that wa released possibly days before the beta.

I am willing to be on hold for a few hours about this firmware. Hopefully they can do a quick-fix

They did with call of duty black ops 2. Lol

So Oralis, like I said: I updated the DHCP Client Lease Time from 0 to 9999. Now I can play without disconnecting (well, I disonnected twice, but 1 of those was a server crash and the second one could have been random in the 4 to 5 hours I've played).

I'm still getting ''there's a problem with your connection'' messages every now and then (pretty frequent) but I think that's my internet (the ISP said there are problems they are working on to fix). The difference is that now I won't lag out/disconnect on the third or so ''there's a problem with your connection'' message, but I can just keep getting them infinitely and not disconnect. That probably has to do with the higher lease time?

So it's kind of fixed, apart of the issues my ISP has?
