Nope, he's just someone like you and me, making lots of videos of ArmA, PR, etc. Don't make a big deal out of something that isn't a big deal in the first place. Thanks.

Thanks for taking the initiative as SL all this time. It's an important contribution you've made to the PR community, and one that maybe doesn't get a player as much recognition as they deserve. That said, your question smacks of sour grapes. There are "stars" in every facet of life - art, music, cooking, science, sports, writing, education, leadership, etc. They are a necessary part of the life experience. So what made the Beatles, Pele, and Im Yo Hwan so famous?
People typically acquire fame by presenting themselves to the public as someone with something to offer. In Dslyecxi's case, he built and leads one of the largest, if not the largest, Arma communities out there. He also maintains a successful YouTube channel, including hundreds of hours of highly entertaining and engrossing gameplay, as well as official content for BIS. This activity has received a positive response from the public, who want to see more. That's fame.
Now you know, and so you can choose to follow the same path if you wish. If not, that's cool, too.

I found Dslyecxi's channel a long time ago because of my great love for Arma. I enjoy his video's 'cause he gives good commentary IMO and I like his personality.
I Used to play BF2 too, like a decade ago; but I never really enjoyed it 'cause of the lack of 'real' teamplay.
I watched the PR: BF2 video's on Dslyecxi's channel and I reinstalled BF2 after that. Read the manual 2 times and tried some local gameplay. After that joined an online match. So Dslyecxi 'did it' for me too
I'm still learning, and I'm looking for a group to join. It seems to me PR has a great community, I'm looking forward to contribute to it!

Welcome, buddy! Glad you're enjoying PR .
There are numerous clans/communities out there, Dutch ones too. Just play on different servers and find one that fits your liking .
Finally a video that puts into words what I really think of snipers.
I am always amazed how people get so agitated or serious when it comes to this kit.
It is one or two guys who might be doing not the best for their team, granted.
But have you looked at the map once and seen LOADS AND LOADS of blue dots running around like little chickens doing even more idiotic chicken stuff?
like getting killed over and over attacking the same building/AR pos/tank/... over and over again. The sniper is relatively safe and costs one ticket. I think there should be more awareness for the blue mob
but its not so easy to pick on I suppose
I dont know. Snipers get just too much attention (yeah even if they have the lase thing and a superduper scope)

The sniper kit infects peoples mind, I've had good squad players request a sniper kit and within 10 mins I've kicked them because they are half way across the map doing some random shit.

Snipers don't have GTLDs anymore, at least as far as I know. The sniper in that video is horrendous, probably one of his only times using the kit. Why the hell people go to the highest, most visible spot is beyond me. Oh let's not forget he picked a spot with one way in and one way out, leave's great options for escape.....
I'll take the sniper rifle when given a chance, it's a superb weapon when used with a squad and having a sniper nearby grants any SL the ability to instantly remove a potential threat before said threat realizes he is a threat. The biggest issue is that snipers NEED TO STICK WITH THEIR SQUAD, the vast majority of the time you are missing an opportunity to support your squad because they moved up and you decided to camp the hotel roof and stare at them getting killed over the ridge.
Most of those "L33t Recon" or "Snipz0r Sqwuid" are groups of noobs wanting the "coolest weapon" in the game. Every friend I've shown PR has instantly wanted to be a sniper, it makes no sense but it happens. The noobs want the cool hat I suppose.

As he said on the video, as long as you cover the infantry and don't stay too far away, it's fine. There is not even the need to stick to a Squad, just have a Spotter close and you're fine. It's stupid to take the kit and stick to an infantry Squad, you'll be fucked in 10/10 of the close combat situations, that's why we have the Marksman kit, it can provide exactly the same thing as the Sniper, and is equipped with a semi-automatic rifle that can save his *** at close combat.

Ill experiment with having the Sniper in the squad.

I started hating snipers ever since I started playing vanilla BF2. Mean ******** with claymores, nades and nasty scopes.
Tried a few times getting a sniper and its really affecting you as someone described here. You just sway on your own. Sniper cant move with the squad, especially in urban areas. Wth is he supposed to do in CQB, get the knife out and roar?
Snipers should be in a two-four man squad doing field reconnaissance and spotting/lasing things and informing other squads of enemy positions and movements. Just my 2 cents.

I disagree with his mindset that the map is poorly designed , I dominated on IDF because I fought CQB style. Even with BUIS the RUS scoped kits have a disadvantage to Tar's with red dots in CQB.

When I saw the 1.0 release on PCG I was intrigued. Then I saw one of his PR videos, immediately sold, bought it that afternoon. I truly thank him for pushing me over the edge

I've been seeing his videos pop up in my sub box for a while now. Been interested for a while now. Finally got some scrap together and bought BF2.
Excited to get my boots on the ground.
