lol I've been dling for 10 hours now... 80% great.. I do usualy get a speed of a steady 100 kbps though, but today it chose to swing from 0-30

i think the reason for the torrents instead of direct downloads is that you would have alot more noobs and morons playing a test version, which is a bad thing, because only people who read the forums will be aware of a test version and those people tend to be more a part of the PR community and not so much retarded.

torrents also greatly speed up our ability to distribute the releases, and the bandwidth is free.

I'll seed it till its 1:1 but that may be some time since my download rate is about 24 times faster then upload

no but it's a release candidate for it - people play it on open beta servers, respond with issues and such, they polish the code more, release another release candidate, and so on and so forth. Give it a go.

is the final version going to be released on bit torrent?
